I have read the same thing from Bucknuts. That the only permanent change may be replacing the Nike swoosh with the LBJ23 logo.
I think the players will respond to this change positively because it almost comes off as an attempt by both Nike and the school to allow the players to get back in touch with their roots of playing pickup at the park or gym with friends, wearing long shorts and tighter tees. I know its hard for the generation in their 40s/50s to understand playing in longer shorts, but if you go to "The Hoop" in Columbus/Whitehall, you will see the trend of longer shorts. Yes, it may seem like it will get in the way of driblling through their legs, but Im sure when the team plays outside of practice, they sport the more fashonable trend of shorts going past the knee and underarmour. If the university and Nike agree to put the outfit on the market, it will sell big time because many teens and ones in their early 20s (like me) will be able to purchase a pair of shorts that not only rock the
OSU logo, but are comprable to what you may find at the Finishline and Footlocker stores with regular Nike basketball shorts.
Bottomline is that its a new generation that the university is appeasing. Im sure Jerry Lucas had a hard time understanding the current look. To me, this certainly looks better than the "stripes" we have been sporting all year. We now dont look like the
OSU Tigers. Who knows, maybe this is a prevew of whats to come. Maybe, just maybe, this might help sell
OSU to a few recruits that may live outside of Ohio and see us as old fashioned and out of date.
