Foul play not in plans for Tigers
Memphis coach says he won't use those tactics against OSU's Oden
By Marla Ridenour
Beacon Journal sportswriter
SAN ANTONIO - Memphis coach John Calipari no longer tries to get an opposing player in foul trouble, because he believes it ensures defeat.
Fighting off that temptation might be a little tougher when the foe is Ohio State's Greg Oden.
Oden, the Buckeyes' 7-foot freshman center, has been whistled for nine fouls in the past two NCAA Tournament games, seven in the past 40 minutes. He's scored just 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, which would be a good day for the likely first pick in June's NBA Draft. He fouled out for the first time all season in an overtime win over Xavier a week ago and played only 18 minutes Thursday night as OSU's miraculously rallied from a 20-point, first-half deficit to top Tennessee 85-84. In the latter, he shot from the field only twice, both dunks.

SAN ANTONIO Ohio State and Memphis are seeded 1-2 in the South Regional, each boasting 33 wins and only three losses.
They have the nation?s two longest winning streaks: 20 straight for the Buckeyes, 25 in a row for the Tigers.
Both are coming off gritty 1-point wins.
So, going into their Final Four-or-bust matchup today, the advantage goes to ... whom?
Logic points to the Buckeyes because of the tougher road they?ve traveled ? having gone through a Big Ten schedule, as opposed to Conference USA for Memphis ? and the fact Ohio State has Greg Oden. Even if the fabulous freshman is coming off two rough games, that might only mean he?s ready to take out his frustrations on someone.

dorsey is trying to bait oden...let the game come to you greg...i certainly don't think memphis will shoot anywhere near what UT did from 3....i think memphis can make some stupid plays and I think they can shoot themselves out of the game rather quickly...they also will not be able to pull oden out if the lane b/c their bigs can't make the 3 or 15 footer....that means guard play...butler will have to stay with roberts esp. b/c roberts is a lot like lewis in his ability to go the basket....if i am osu i stay with the plan of conley driving to the basket for the shot or dish to oden or the kick out for three...but osu's biggest thing is coming out with fire and energy...1 game to the final four...1 game to cut down the nets..1 game to answer and shut all the critics up...1 game to erase the OB stain....

OHIO STATE NOTES
Memphis' Dorsey: Oden 'overrated'
By Mark Gokavi
Staff Writer
Saturday, March 24, 2007
SAN ANTONIO ? University of Memphis forward Joey Dorsey says he rooted for Ohio State to beat Xavier and Tennessee so he could face 7-foot center Greg Oden today.
"This is the game I wanted," said the 6-9, 260-pound junior. "I'm an underrated big man, and he's a lot overrated as a big man. It's going to be a great rebounding game for me."
"I'm going to have a 20-rebound night because Coach (John Calipari) said this was going to be my breakout game," Dorsey said. "We watched tape this morning and last night, and (Oden's) a lot like me. If he gets his head out of the game, he easily can pick up a couple of fouls. Then he stops playing and then he picks up a foul trying to play too hard."
Oden, predictably, took Dorsey's comments as a challenge.
"I guess I need to show up," Oden said. "I guess he's been ready for me for a long time."

I think this too. We just need to defense the perimeter. We have the quickness, and Greg will take care of the inside.
