This Gillispie thing is destined to be a train wreck. Think about it: it took a very experienced Texas A&M team (5 of the top 7 scorers were either juniors or seniors, a rarity in college basketball these days) just for him to make it to the Sweet Sixteen and finish second in his conference. That season (again, I reiterate that it was Gillispie's best) would be considered a failure at UK and would have Wildcat fans calling for his job.

If I were UK, I would have started and made a strong run at Izzo. Granted, it would have been a long shot. If that didn't pan out, I would have gone after Crean. He's been to a Final Four, and I think they could've gotten him away from Marquette.

That was at a program that was 0-16 in their conference just 3 years earlier. He'll be working with much better athletes at KY, and I'll be surprised if KY isn't quickly back on top in the SEC.

I disagree. If Kentucky has a sub par team for them, they are not automatically thrust into a top 5 or top 10 team. They have fared very well in the SEC prior to this season, and are usually always a threat. The same cannot be said for the Domers | |
