Billy Donovan did a pretty poor job of deflecting the attention from himself in that presser the other day. I have to think UF would match any monetary offers tossed his way, but is the job itself enough to convince him to head there?

i think it was billy's way of saying, "pay me my money, gator biyatches."

kentucky to name donovan as coach?

i'd hardly be surprised if this is a maneuver for leverage. regardless of the rumor's validity, this comes at the absolute worst time for the gator basketball team. expect tomorrow (well, today) to be a HUGE news day, with tons of speculation and a possible presser. then again, if donovan is creating leverage, he has done a [censored]-poor job ensuring that the discussions would not become public. Regardless of what happens at the Georgia Dome, attention will soon shift to Billy Donovan's future. Will the Gators coach stay or will he go? Florida and Kentucky fans want to know. From the minute Wildcats coach Tubby Smith resigned last Thursday, speculation has been that UK athletics director Mitch Barnhart would call Donovan first and perhaps make a hefty offer. Wildcats fans will accept nothing less, particularly now that Rick Pitino and John Calipari have publicly said they will be staying where they are. Cont... |

I just hope that the guy they hire knows enough small words, in order to keep the alums informed.

I think Donovan would be a fool to walk away from Fla, he's got it made, his job is secure there for at least another 5 years and he's poised to make a lot more money. If he takes the Kentucky job then it's his funeral.

Donovan's recruiting has been fairly similar to Tubby's, albeit at a far less prestigious school.
If I were UK, I'd snag Calipari. |

Didn't JC just sign a contract extension? I know it doesn't mean much but I just don't think he would've done it in the past couple days if you were at all interested in going to Lexington.
