You can only limit someone like Humphrey and Brewer so much. We all knew coming into the game that UF had 5 (really maybe 6) offensive threats. Focusing on perimiter defense would have freed up folks in the paint. We chose to focus on the big guys and still (I think) played good perimiter D. When someone is stroking the ball like Humphrey-there isn't much you can do beyond deliberately injuring him.

True dat. If we had hit our season avg on 3's it would have been a nailbiter at worst. Hell if we'd hit our seson average on free throws we'd have been in it. Give Florida credit, they came out and did exactly what they've done all season. they were the consistent team when it counted.

What a game Oden played. I'm hoping he'll be back for one more go at it. A year of growth, a year to help our new kids adjust, could be a win - win situation.

Yeah the free throws didn't help either.. we couldn't buy a shot last night.. did ron lewis take a 3? I was hoping matta would go to bench for cook to get some help jump starting the 3 balls even though he's struggled lately.. couldn;'t have been worse than what was already going on.

never said we should have changed our defensive plan. i thought we had the right plan. this thread also wasn't meant to be about last night's game alone. i just wanted to point out that teams seemed to shoot much better than usual against us.

So before the two garbage 3s we were 2-21 instead of 2-23 like I thought. Point is we couldn't hit [censored] from behind the arch, and it wasn't really because of Florida's defense...most of those shots were open shots.

Very true when the shots are going down easy it turns into a scary game to beat but, with Oden back there to scare all away like he's been doing all season means you could make sure PG,OG AND SF play extreme defense against any long threats and play makers knowing they have Oden in the back to protect them. Just my thought but, still happy that they made it to the big show

Hunter struggled a bit, but he fared better than Harris and Terwilliger did. I think he was the best option for that matchup. I disagree with the guy that said Butler is the team's best on ball defender--I think Conley would take that title. Butler may be a good defender but he just doesn't have the height. I remember when the Chicago Bulls used to play the Utah Jazz in the finals. Phil Jackson put taller players such as Harper and Pippen on Hornaceck and Stockton. I also remember Tayshaun Prince giving Tracy Mcgrady fits during the playoffs of 2003.

I just feel that a taller player, given the right teaching, would have disrupted Humpries better because it's not only a case of shadowing him, because he's shown he will rise up and shoot given the slimest of margins, but it's about putting a tall hand in his face and hopefully being smart enough to time his release and block the shot.

It was just their day. What [censored]es me off is that the boys got it down to 3 and then Florida hits 5 straight 3 pointers.
