Or conversely, you might rise painfully out of your cramped seat with an obstructed view and say you can't wait to get back to the palace that is VCA.
Just a matter of perspective. I personally prefer to exit the game with neither cramps nor knee bruises, but that's just me. I'm sure Ohio State is chock full of masochists who love hoop.

RENEE SAUER dispatch
Freed of the Big Ten's mauling style of play, the Buckeyes and Othello Hunter racked up their highest point total Monday in more than 2 1/2 months.
Coming up: California
Where: St. John Arena
When: 7 p.m. Monday
TV: ESPN
Radio: WBNS-AM/FM (1460/97.1)
The week that was
Eventful, wasn't it? The Buckeyes went into their Big Ten tournament quarterfinal against Michigan State confident they could beat the Spartans and perhaps win an at-large spot in the NCAA Tournament. They didn't, and they didn't, and two nights later Ohio State played host to North Carolina Asheville in the first round of the NIT. It was a tall order in one respect -- Asheville had 7-foot-7, 360-pound Kenny George -- but the Buckeyes hurdled it thanks to 56 percent shooting, 10 three-point baskets and 26 points off turnovers.

Did OSU want an encore in St. John Arena?
A Dayton Daily News reporter in town for interviews today asked OSU coach Thad Matta if Ohio State inquired about the possibility of playing in St. John Arena again when the Buckeyes play host to Dayton in the National Invitation Tournament on Wednesday night. The game will be played in Value City Arena.
Matta appeared taken aback by the question before replying, ?Ummm, no.? He looked at Dan Wallenberg, assistant athletic director for communications, and said, ?Didn?t we sign a deal with the NIT? We had signed paperwork earlier in the year and it was contractually through the Schott. I don?t know.?

St. John a better place for fans
By ROB MCCURDY
News Journal
During Monday night's telecast, ESPN announcers John Saunders and Bob Valvano couldn't stop raving about the atmosphere surrounding the Ohio State-Cal men's basketball game. Duh.
While driving into work Tuesday morning, the topic of choice for the Columbus talkers wasn't the Buckeyes' 73-56 NIT second-round win. It was about the raucous crowd and the noise they generated. No kidding.
When it comes to watching basketball, the Schottenstein Center is superior. When it comes to experiencing basketball, give me St. John Arena every time. They just don't build 'em like than anymore.

If he wants a home-and-home series with Ohio State, Dayton basketball coach Brian Gregory seems much more likely to land one than Cincinnati.
After the Buckeyes buried the Bearcats last season in the Wooden Tradition in Indianapolis, Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin accused OSU's Thad Matta of agreeing to the game only because he knew Cincinnati was down and concluded his postgame comments with, "If they don't want to play us, fine."
Gregory was more tactful after the Buckeyes' 74-63 win over the Flyers on Wednesday in Value City Arena.
