A lot of people talked about Cooks grades but that article makes it sound like Greg wasn't as in love with school as everybody thought.

I think this has more to do with staying in school than with grades.
I inferred that Conley and Cook won't affect the APR because they haven't signed with an agent and left open the possibility of coming back to school, and are thus still enrolled and plan to finish their classes for the quarter. Oden, on the other hand, might not be finishing out the quarter because he is definitely not returning to school.

I can see it from that perspective too.
As I stated, I'm not saying for a FACT that Greg won't or that he didn't like school, but if he liked school as much as it was made out to be in a lot of articles out there, you'd think he would stay in school for another month. This article just made it sound like that was a little more unlikely to happen than I would have guessed.
From all the rumors and whatnot before I would have thought that Cook would be the one to not be eligible. Just goes to show that rumors are usually wrong.

Badgers-Buckeyes Rivalry Brewing

The recent announcement by Ohio prep star Charles Wilson that he intends to commit to Wisconsin during this fall's early signing period was a huge win for the Badger program.
...
In another way, however, Wilson's commitment is much more meaningful. It shows that even in the face of a scholarship offer from one of the nation's pre-eminent programs, the UW program and its coaches held up.
Also, and in my opinion most importantly, Wisconsin went into a fellow Big Ten power's backyard and stole a rising talent out from under the noses of Thad Matta and Ohio State - a recruiting blow in a league where protecting one's own turf is essential.
With Tubby Smith taking over at Minnesota, recruiting in that state - a recent hotbed for UW recruiting - will likely become much more difficult, so it is essential for Ryan's staff to diversify its recruiting area. If UW is able to establish a road into Ohio talent, it could be a big blow in what could end up being a major rivalry in the Big Ten for the coming years.
Coming off a season in which the UW and OSU played two absolutely classic games, one of which was a historic one-on-one matchup, and were among the nation's elite all season, the two teams are in position to establish a long-term rivalry.

i found this article interesting for at least few reasons. one, matta never offered wilson (as far as we know, he also wasn't looking to), so how could ryan have stolen a recruit from our coach? two, it is a bit of a stretch to infer that signing wilson establishes a "road into ohio talent." three, wisconsin will have to do much more to overtake indiana or even michigan state as ohio state's big ten rival. i guess the mere fact that fans are hoping to make ohio state its rival means that ohio state is big time.
ehh... it is just an article written by a uw sophomore.

Wilson was not on Matta's radar....if he was...he would be a Buckeye.....plain and simple. Wilson is a nice player but not the type of athlete Matta is recruiting at this point......bogus article.

Re: Ben is a sophomore majoring in political science. Even though it?s summer, he?s still thinking hoops. Talk sports or send him good YouTube clips this summer at bvoelkel@badgerherald.com
Just wishful thinking on the part of an overzealous Wisconsin student who isn't even a journalism major. Apparently in the tradition of most politicians in this country, he isn't really concerned with the accuracy of the facts in his reporting.

The old "its my story and I'm sticking to it" that explains why I had never heard of the kid (the player or "journalist") I wish both luck in their future endeavors except when it concerns tOSU
