Apparently Billy doesn't feel like these kids poured out their heart and soul for their school. Otherwise he wouldn't have questioned their commitment. I also happen to agree with his assessment and the way he handled it. If these guys transfer because of these comments, then he was probably right, and good riddance. If they don't, and they apply themselves next year, then he will reap the rewards. As far as hurting him in recruiting. Maybe, but he has enough credibility earned from two NCs that I don't think that it will hurt him too bad.

UF- Donovan "Punishes" BBall Team
http://sports.aol.com/ncaabb/story/_a/coac...317234709990001
Quote:
Coach Billy Donovan, feeling like his players had settled into a state of complacency and entitlement, banned them from Florida's $12 million facility. He also told them they couldn't wear any Florida attire.
"Probably in some respects the confetti is still falling down around them," Donovan said Monday. "When you have great success like we've had, I think it's very, very easy to become complacent and to lose sight of how good things are around here and to have an attitude of, 'I'm at Florida. This is just what's going to happen."'

I personally don't get it. Some where along the line Donovan is gonna have to soak up some blame. I just wanna see what happens if they win the NIT.
Thoughts?

I agree with you that he should take some of the blame, but I also like the idea behind his actions. Apparently he doesn't think they appreciate what they have, so he's going to make them earn it. No problems with that, although not allowing them to wear UF clothing isn't cool in my book. Not only are they students there, they're representatives of the university. They should be seen wearing UF gear. Haha

Which is another way of saying, "Trust the coaches..."

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida forward Jonathan Mitchell has decided to transfer, becoming the second player to leave the team this week.
Sophomore center Marreese Speights entered the NBA draft Tuesday, although he did not hire an agent and left open the possibility of returning to school for his junior season.
Mitchell, a sophomore from Mount Vernon, N.Y., averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 35 games last season. He played a little more than 11 minutes a game, and his court time likely would have dwindled next season with the addition of a highly touted recruiting class.
Contd...
