How many 18 year old kids turn down that kind of temptation?
This kid is a rock-solid lock to be the #1 pick in the NBA Draft and sign a huge shoe deal. His initial NBA contract is going to net him probably around $25-30 mil- all guaranteed money. If he blows out the knee and can never play again before he even starts a game, that money is still owed to him. Bogut's contract was worth $26 mil, have to think Oden will get around $30mil. Throw in a $20-50 mil shoe deal and the kid is looking at having his networth jump to probably less than $5,000.00 to instantly more than $30 million.
He's only human. How many of you would turn that down and make yourself wait another year? What if he got seriously injured playing for OSU this year? Bye-bye to the big bucks. Yeah, I'm sure he's got an insurance policy, but that will only pay-out a few million which is a hell of a lot don't get me wrong, but peanuts compared to what he could get by signing a shoe deal and #1 pick money.
