Attitude adjustment pays off for Spartans
Sunday, December 9, 2007 3:24 AM
By Doug Alden
ASSOCIATED PRESS
SALT LAKE CITY -- After watching a listless team in the first half yesterday, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo was worried he had a labor situation on his hands.
His ninth-ranked Spartans trailed No. 20 Brigham Young by 10 points and didn't seem all that concerned.
"I told them at halftime, they must have gone on strike on me," Izzo said. "They did nothing. But that second half, I thought we were back to playing like we did."

I think by the end of the season the big ten is going to be a solid 6 deep...
MSU - already playing very well, they have experience, so not many struggles in the early season...
IU - They are a very strong team, there best player is only a frosh, but he is the best frosh in the country outside of Beasley IMO...Will only continue to get better
tOSU - Struggles now will help us by the end of the year...
Wisconsin - They are very good inside, and are getting very solid play from their guards, let them get some more time and they will improve...
Illinois - see above two combined...They have such a great inside game, but their guard just continue to lose games by forcing shots, not getting eh ball inside and turning the ball over...
Purdue - They are much in our boat...They had the game at Clemson and the game at Mizzou where they were winning and they gave them up in the second half with turnovers and bad shooting...That is what you get with a very young team, but they have lots of talent...
NW, Mich, Iowa won't even sniff the NIT...
That leaves Minnesota and PSU who I think if their seniors can lead the way some could sniff the NIT...
Come March I feel the Big Ten will make some noise...

I think you might be giving the Buckeyes a little bit too much credit right now and not giving Minnesota much credit at all. I think the Gophers have a lot of big guys that is going to give some Big 10 teams problems.
Purdue played well against Missouri but I think they are still very young and don't see them making the tournament but I also could say that about Ohio State right now. We shall see.

Louisville's Will Scott has his shot blocked by Purdue's Keaton Grant, right. Also defending is JaJuan Johnson.
INDIANAPOLIS -- Purdue's freshmen grew up just in time to deny Rick Pitino his 500th college coaching win.
Robbie Hummel, one of the Boilermakers' four freshman starters, scored 15 points, and the Boilermakers beat No. 22 Louisville 67-59 yesterday in the Wooden Tradition.
Purdue had lost at Clemson and Missouri but this time handled a late challenge in Conseco Fieldhouse to get their first victory over a big-name opponent.
"I wouldn't say it's a statement win," Purdue coach Matt Painter said. "Making a statement is beating Clemson, Missouri and Louisville. That's a statement. This was a good win versus a very good team, but let's not get carried away."

Central Michigan led 38-29 at halftime, forcing 14 turnovers and taking advantage of a nearly eight-minute stretch when Michigan didn't score.

I didn't find this anywere, and there isn't a Big Ten Network thread, so I'll post this here.
I find it very discouraging that these games are on the B10 Network. I love to watch the Bucks basketball. I am very frustrated because I can't watch them play. I am not going to a bar and put down $40-50 (food, beer, etc) to watch the game. I would rather pay the $1.50-2.00 monthly fee for the channel. No one gives us this choice. I know I could change cable services, but this is too much of a hassel as well.
Sorry for the rant...I will get off the soap box.
