I'll take a W, but this was a downright crappy win.
Just my honest 2 cents.

Absolutely concur. I watched every minute of this disaster and it was as uninspired/unemotional/flat/disinterested, disturbing a performance as you can imagine.
They regressed tonight, plain and simple. Makes you wonder what in the hell is going through these kids heads.
As far as how young they are, it doesn't excuse them from giving effort. They pull one of these in B10 play and they'l get beat by 40.

Im just curious, are we like in a different dimension or something and the only way we can communicate is through this internet site. Cause in my dimension Diebler went 0-4 from 3 against Butler. Im also wondering if its still considered bashing to say Turner should start over Diebler because he brings more to the table and is more ready, since now its pretty clear Matta feels the same way. So if anyone disagress do I get to use the "You think youre smarter than Matta" defense?

I'm with you, turner looked good tonight. He brings a lot to the table and I really like his overall game. IMO Diebler will develop into a premier shooter at this level sometime in the next few years, but Turner should be the guy now. Just seems more complete at this point.

Sounds like you have so built up bitterness for some reason, PennBuckFan, and it's probably not going to do you a lot of good to dish it out in an "I told you so" fashion.
That being said, I agree that starting Turner was the right choice tonight. Diebler showed his value in the North Carolina game, but other than that, he's in the slump of slumps. Turner brings much more activity on the glass, more driving ability, and maybe more speed to lose balls. As long as Diebler is struggling, take the pressure of starting off of the kid and let Turner do his thing.
I guess in a way, I'm disappointed that I agree with you because I'm a little bored and was looking forward to you starting an argument with me.

Defensively this team has been there every game, other than maybe getting the defensive boards, but we make teams work for good looks, make them run the shot clock down and harass them all over the floor...
Now offense is a different story...It just sucks to see them struggle against a team that is not bigger, stronger, quicker than them...Yeah they were in zone, but we have to use the size to force our way into cutting lanes, to force the guards to get the ball down low because you are open...
There is a reason we can't get the ball inside, because they guys aren't getting position, then the guards arent moving the ball, they arent slashing, they aren't going anywhere with the dribble...It reminds of the old shell drill we did in high school where you just pass the ball around the perimeter...
I will never give up on a team in anyway and the talent is there for this team to breakout, and they will...Hopefully they are ready for Florida when they come here...
BTW that alley-op to Hunter was a thing of beauty and there were almost two but Wallace couldnt grab the other one...
One other thing I would like to see us do more in transistion and try and get into the lane more off the dribble...

Folks we won. We have 2 Seniors and 6 new players on the team. As much as everyone would like to be like the football team this year as far as reloading it's not the same. Was this game pretty and the blowout we wanted? No. This years team is a work in a progress and it's not what we do in December that matters it's what happens in March. With this many new players we'll be a light years ahead of where we are now come seasons end. This isn't football, one game doesn't make the season. Bad signs are out there but Thad will have this team grow. Take one look at his final season at Xavier. The ship isn't sunk cry, bi*tch and moan if we stink it up like this late in the season.
To the Dbags that think Butler is on par with Coppin State, not a 25 team, worse than Oregon State and Northwestern because they're not a BCS team, and have no big men. They lost to Florida after having the game tied with 3 minutes left in Sweet 16. They return four starters off of that team.

Ron Zook has a special ability to treat people from all walks of life equally and with respect. He is especially beloved by minorities who can recognize disingenuous phoneys a mile away. Since a large number of the best football players are minorities, Coach Zook has an advantage in recruiting.

Well first things first I got extremely lucky tonight and was able to get free tickets tonight. Not only that but they were center court in row B. I was 3 and a half feet from the court and Jimmy Jackson. Still can't believe how great the seats were plus me and my girlfriend had a great time. Now to the game........ I am more than frustrated after getting to see this team up close because to this point what I have seen on TV unfortunately played out tonight. Other than Butler and sometimes Hunter this team is just plain soft. There is no one in that starting group of guys that wants to hit anyone AKA box out/set great picks. Our rebounding is just straight horrible. I can't tell you how many times I watched guys stand flat footed, not boxing anyone out, just reaching with their arms. There is a reason they got it handed to them on the boards and it's not because they were playing Zone defense....had nothing to do with it. I'd love to see someone on this team that cares enough about getting that ball/rebound to the point where they drive the opponent out of bounds with their box out. That's what good teams do. That's what winning teams do.
On the plus side I saw Evan Turner and Jamar Butler being the only guys that know what to do when we go into a cold slump.....we need to drive to the basket and try to get to the free throw line, something this team is just now starting to figure out. Hopefully they keep this up because it will help put an end to our dry spells scoring wise and help us to win in the big ten.
They have lots of work to do but I still believe the talent and ability is there it's just a matter of want to. Improve the rebounding and getting better offensively are musts as well as getting Kufos to play big. He plays like he is 6'5 sometimes.....he has to play like a 7 footer and use his length to his advantage. If Matta can get these things to happen I have no doubt this team can compete for a Big Ten title this year.....if not, we may not make the tournament this year. Hope Matta gets after them after this game and that we keep improving with each and every game. GO BUCKS!
