Hey gimme a break! My wife and I were not there at tip-off. Trying working till 5 and then get to Columbus, find a place to park, walk to the shot by seven. Oh, by the way it was rain and fog the whole way up 71. For anyone coming from more than a few miles away the weather made a big impact.

I am pretty sure that 99% of us laugh when other football teams try to "color out" us. I guess basketball is a different animal though.

I agree. It's a pretty lame idea, but the joint was louder last year against MSU than at almost any of the other games. I'm all for it if it will get the crowd into the game *cough* for once *cough*

I have said this before but I think it is worth repeating since the crowd noise on being brought up. We have good cheerleaders but when it comes to revving up the crowd at a basketball game that is not their game. They should not be there for the show but to amp the crowd. It's almost like "two bits, four bits...".

Also, it is about time that they get a basketball pep band instead of part of the marching band. It would be nice to see a couple drummers, some guitars, and some saxophones. That might liven up the crowd a little. In addition to the band director is too stoic.

In addition, it is very difficult for a crowd to be really loud in an arena that has also been built for hockey IMO

I would also like to know how much the team (any team) feeds off the crowd. I think a greater part of home teams winning is a comfort level of playing in a place where they practice and there is no traveling involved.

A lot more crowd noise is generated by recorded music excerpts (like AC/DC Hell's Bells) than by anything the pep band does, although Hang On Sloopy is still a good choice.

A strong defensive stand by the Buckeyes generates a lot more crowd noise than any music, light shows, "the wave," dancing girls, etc. So that's what is needed IMO, rather than discussing musical genres.

Cheerleaders aren't the solution...The cheer and add on to what the students are doing, but no one pays the cheerleaders much attention...

It is a pep band...It is totally different from the marching band...Lot of members don't make the marching band...I also believe they have the guitar, drummers, etc...

It is just big to the fact that half the crowd can't mask the noise for a full crowd like at say a smaller arena...Especially when the place isn't full...Also it was built as more a catch all as it is for basketball, hockey and big concerts..

Well of course they are used to confines and all that, but it helps that it can help out your emotion and feed off the crowd...We have seen that all year with the guys and getting the guys player harder...

I don't understand why people keep saying this...This isn't the first place I have seen it, but maybe other than the top 3 rows at times or a couple of the side sections on the West end of the schott aren't full, and some students don't get there on times, but that happens everywhere, that is student life...

Don't blame the crowd on the students...That is the least of the worries, they are the ones that make any of the noise in the first half...
