Don't blame the crowd on the students...That is the least of the worries, they are the ones that make any of the noise in the first half...

im not blaming anyone, heck if this team played with the half hearted effort the fans bring wed probably won one or two games. the fans dont seem to go for 5 mins each game without scoring/making noise.

i think its worth the comment, it cost millions of dollars to buy people out.

i still say sell one type of student ticket, the first 2k or whatever get the lowerbowl, and the rest shove them upstairs on the baselines.

personally i dont really care about the crowd. the reality is cameron is a tough place to paly cuz dukes good, not cuz of the kids jumping up and down...

Can't say I disagree with anything you say...But I think a young team can be more effected by the crowd in terms of the visiting team, and it can help you out as a young team...Not saying that it is going to make the team better, just helps your emotion...It is hard at times as a player when playing a team you know you are better than or that has a losing record, to not become complacent...It happens to good teams all the time...that is why you see upsets all the time...

I come from the "give me something to cheer for camp". I am not going to stand up at a basketball game and scream for 32 seconds while Jamar Butler dribbles off of about 12 picks. Make a play on offense and follow it up with a stop on defense, that is how you get the crowd into the game.

Big plays are how you get the crowd to explode. Basketball teams should not have to (and simply put, cannot) generate unending success to earn their crowd's support. That's how the Big House operates in AA. Is that all our basketball fans strive to be?

FORTY-YEAR REUNION Members of Ohio State's 1968 Final Four team will be honored during Sunday's home game against Indiana. The Buckeyes, led by current Big Ten Network analyst Bill Hosket, finished third in the NCAA tournament after a loss to No. 4 North Carolina in the semifinals and a win over top-ranked Houston in the consolation game. I'm not saying that they need to create unending success....but a defensive rebound every once in awhile might help. I hate to say it but this years B-ball squad has been mediocre at best. This mediocrity tends affect the fans as well. The fact of the matter is, if OSU was 20-3 right now instead of 16-7, the Schott would be one of the loudest arenas in the country.


And since you brought up football, I went to 4 home games in 2004 when we had a mediocre football team and the crowd wasn't into those games either.

I disagree. The attendance was better last year, but it wasn't noticeably louder or more energetic, in my opinion.

IU should be exhausted and emotionally drained after that game. Same thing we caught Tennessee in, but it was in Tenn, unfortunently.

Men's basketball: Buckeyes' Final Four team of '68 to take bow

When the members the Ohio State basketball team left their postseason awards banquet in 1968, they never imagined reuniting in 40 years to reminisce about the Final Four.
The team will be recognized before the Buckeyes' game against Indiana at 1 p.m. Sunday in Value City Arena.
"We'd said our goodbyes and turned in our stuff," Bill Hosket, the team's All-Big Ten center, recalled yesterday.
The Buckeyes had finished 10-4 in the Big Ten. Iowa was 10-3 with a home game left against eighth-place Michigan.
"We just assumed that Iowa would take care of business at home and we'd come in second place in the Big Ten," Hosket said. Only the conference champion advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Just imagine how weary we would feel about this game if we had lost last night. I'm glad we don't have to.

While I don't think the atmosphere will come anywhere close to what we experienced last night, OSU will pack the house for this one. Apparently, their fans only show up for the big games or if the team is winning. They had great crowds for their games last year but had a sleepy crowd against Michigan earlier this week.

Koufous will be an interesting matchup. We've never really guarded that type of player this year. OSU's frontcourt could give us some problems, but we faced the same problem last year and offset it by shooting a high percentage from 3.

I think this is a great idea and a long time coming. The 68 team beat Kentucky in Lexington to make it to the Final Four. Ohio State was the only school that did not even send its cheerleaders to back the team. I know that the cheerleaders don't play the game but at least it would have shown the rest of the nation that our school was behind the team.

This was a very very good team that has never gotten the recognition they deserved for their accomplishments plus there were all very good students.

I will be very interested in seeing how we handle DJ White with our big guys because our zone will have to be extended because of their good perimeter shooters. Maybe Dallas can get in there and bang him around for a few minutes
