It didn't take very long for that to be accurate.

I said 10 seed or higher, or host NIT game.

If we win enough to get in as an at large, then I don't think we'll be any lower than a ten. I just don't see the committee putting us in if they don't think we're worthy of at least a ten...too much pressure to give the little guy a chance to let a struggling team from a power conference in. When it could deny us more chances for feel good stories like George Mason, Southern Illinois, etc.

If we don't make the NCAA, then I can't imagine the NIT not having a game at the largest arena in the Big Ten.

George Mason will not be in the tournament. They get beat by Ohio University during Brackett Buster weekend. You might be right about the committee taking a team from a mid-major conference over Ohio State but they better have some quality wins.

The Ohio High School boys tournament might have something to do with the Buckeyes not hosting a game in the Schott if they in fact go to the NIT.

George Mason's tourney run a couple of years ago...not this year's George Mason. The selection committee left teams like Syracuse out last year in favor of Mid-Majors because of George Mason's run the previous year. At least in IMO.

Okay maybe this will all be a moot point but . . .
If TOSU can claim either a Sunday victory or BTT 4 v. 5 win over MSU, I believe tOSU will receive and deserve strong consideration for a NCAA tourney bid. Here's why.
They jumped from 57 to 48 in the RPI with the win over Purdue (30 RPI).
MSU is 14 RPI, so an 8-10 point jump for a victory, could put them at 38-40.
According to ESPN Joe Lunardi predictions
http://http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology
The "last 4 in" to the NCAA tourney are:
Arkansas 38 RPI, 19-10 but only 2-5 in last 7 games.
Arizona St. 68 RPI, 18-11 but 4-9 in last 13 games.
Va Tech 56 RPI, 18-11.
Maryland 64 RPI, 18-12, but 2-4 in last 6.
In the same article, the last 4 out are:
Florida 62 RPI, Lost to TOSU!
Syracuse 59 RPI Again lost to TOSU!
St Joseph's 65 RPI.
Western Kentucky 51 RPI.
and the "next 4 out"
TOSU which is 48 RPI!
We are very vulnerable because of automatic bids given for upsets in tournaments, but a strong case can be made for the BTT 5th place team compared to Big East, SEC, Pac 10 or ACC 6th, 7th or 8th place teams.
I believe the selection committee may also look favorably on last year's tourney performances of the NCAA runner ups.
We need to win Sunday first.
