I wonder how many people got turned away last night while the luxury boxes stayed empty? If they know they aren't going to sell the boxes why not open up the seats to the general public? Charge 40 or 50 per ticket and see if anyone is willing to pony up to get the VIP treatment for a night.

Would you suggest that the "T-Shirt Alumni"--with no connection to the university other than choosing to root for its football team--get the same ticket buying privileges as the university's students, alumni and faculty?

My understanding is that luxury boxes are leased on a multi-year basis. To let somebody else sit in a box for which a donor has payed tens of thousands of dollars would violate the contract--not to mention [censored] off some of the university's best supporters.

"T-Shirt Alumni" can have a stronger connection to the University than you are giving them credit for. Joe Fan brings Nike's millions to the table, among others. Don't think that tOSU alumni are the only ones financially supporting tOSU. How many football jerseys do you own?
