I'd go with trapasso, but this discussion is rather absurd since we haven't seen any of them punt in a game, and most of us haven't even seen a practice of theirs. Since he's capable of doing everything else, including saving Columbus with 5 loaves of bread and a few fishes, can Ginn punt?

Did Huston even get his sixth year yet? He shouldn't even be in the equation until he does. As for Ginn punting, that's about the most goofball Idea I've heard in a long time. Think about it...you don't think the opposing ST coach will put everyone except the returner up on the line and rush only six and keep two gunners on each side up tight? Even Ginn couldn't do [censored] with that, and unless he could punt the ball about 50 yards on the fly, we'd lose field position, and you know how Tressel is about that.

I wasn't serious about Ginn punting... hence the inclusion of the loaves/fishes parable. Regarding huston:

I agree, I was just posting it as the info we have about Huston. We will have to sit and wait, but hopefully he'll be back. Either way, few schools can replace a kicker like we can with our deep roster of solid kickers.

Wasn't Turano also inquiring about possibly getting another year, or is that my imagination again?

Oh, I see. Thanks BFS. Glad to know my imagination isn't screwing with my head again.

If Huston gets a 6th year he will be our PK. Nuge said that Huston would have been all-conference or maybe even AA if he had been on another team. Huston will not be punting if he gets a 6th year.
It boils down to a Trapasso vs. Thoma fight. Trapasso has the advantage because he has a year to practice and get used to the speed of college football. IMO Thoma has a hell of alot better leg. Thoma averaged 48 yards per punt as a senior. Whoever gets the ball off faster and has the better hangtime IMO will be our punter. Distance will not determine our punter. IMO Tressel will settle for a serviceable punter. If we can get one of the two guys to average 42+ yards I will be very happy. IMO Trapasso has the advantage right now but I believe that Thoma's leg will definately make the decision hard for Tress & co. Petorious played rugby and may be a darkhorse in this race but should not be taken lightly. In an interview Tressel was bragging how strong Petorious leg was. Rugby players can placekick and punt. |
