Iowa doesn't play OSU or Michigan in 2007-2008
And here I thought Purdue had it good this year!
Hawks announce future football schedules This almost certainly means we'll have a Big 10 split championship or two coming up, which should put heavy pressure on the Big 10 to add a 12th team and institute a championship game. I personally don't want a championship game, but it's starting to seem inevitable now.

That could spell trouble indeed. Therefore it's time for the wolvies to start dedicating themselves to winning that game foremost
 Everyone knows that the big10 will survive if Tressel keeps beating Carr (and why wouldn't he, since we're going to win about 10 straight NC's, right?)... But if Iowa beats UM this year... they are going to have a lot easier time getting national recognition and great recruits.Looks like we'll have to get MSU & Wisky to step it up in 07-08. Anyway we can just let Penn State drift off to the Big East? Once Paterno is gone I feel no affinity towards them, and they don't really help the conference much any more but still pose a decent threat to NC aspirations every year. That would help us avoid a CCG (which would decimate the most important rivalry in all of sports), as there would only be 1 avoided team per year.

The only truly weak football schools would be Indiana and Illinois, and Illinois could make a comeback with Zook recruiting there. That could surely shut up the SEC.

Well, let's see...
3-Loss LLLoyd will collect one defeat at the hands of Jim Tressel, and will lay an egg against some non-conference turd. I guess all this means is that LLLoyd will have to look somewhere else for a place to drop the third one.

TheMile, I've just seen so many posts saying that we need to expand to 12 teams and have a championship game. I've also seen a lot of posts in the past complaining about so-and-so not playing us and someone else in a given season. Your initial post came off to me as a watered combination of both. I also should have edited my reply since we do indeed play Iowa this season in our conference opener.
As for the ding, well hell, you're a Michigan fan...

I can assure everyone that the pressure to go to a conference championship game will not be because of a split conference championship but simply because of the revenue it can provide, of course the Big 10 would have to add another team and who knows when or if that will ever happen.
I could care less about Iowa skipping us. I remember back when Northwestern didnt play us two years in a row and won the Big 10, the conference didnt seem to care about it.

Hey, if PSU does indeed bail from the conference to go join the Big Least, then we'll be back down to ten teams and can split into two 5-team divisions.

i can't begin to put into words how much im for psu leaving the big ten. i really feel bad for joe pa having to end his days in the big 10
 . we most certainly don't need notre dame either. they'll just end up being another psu... thats the last thing anyone needs as far as football is conscerned.as milli stated, a playoff game is a horrible idea. they never ever work and his example is 100% on the money. its as foolhardy as the +1 national championship conscept. it doesn't conform to simple logic period. best solution i see is to remove teams, not add them.

The mile actually started the post to complain about iowa, not to talk about expanding to a 12 team big10, mili. I'd say this thread is a pretty decent one, as I doubt many of us had checked Iowa's schedule nor cared who exactly our 2 missing big10 members were for 3 years from now.
I can't imagine anyone besides grad ever showing this kind of coolheadedness and intelligence on a scUM board. So I'll be going out of my way to counter all of you dingers who disregard her posts and simply lower her to donny level b/c she's a "scUM fan." ... In response to Iowa, as maddening as it might be, we'll be playing USC as our OOC game (which will blow away the Texas games, which is quite a statement) during that time period. So the only people who will complain during this will be Iowa b/c they'll get screwed. The bucks plan on going to the title game each fo the next four years
