If you line Ginn up in the slot you don't have to send him over the middle. It is simply a mismatch problem. You also don't put a 6'4'' reciever in the slot.

To me, Ginn's greatest attribute on offense, aside from his speed/elusiveness, is his versatility. That being said, I see no reason why the staff wouldn't utilize him similarly to what they did late in the season last year: moving him around in a variety of alignments and sets to keep the defense guessing and to create stark mismatches. In short, I expect to see TG lining up regularly at wideout, in the slot, and in the backfield.

YSU Penguin Football Digest
Take notice of the amount of games where YSU scores over 30 points. The concept of Coach Tressel simply being a conservative coach is wrong. He's an adaptable coach. If he doesn't have the horses, he won't try to run with them. When he's got a team like the one we think we'll have next year, he'll be able to do a lot more.

I think what we are going to see is something similiar to 2002. I think one of the RBs will break out and have a big game in the Miami(oh) and im talking around 140 yards with 2 tds and a 6 YPC average with him sharing time with the other two RBs sparingly, but tressel will stick with the thoroughbred whomever that may be(my money is on Haw).
Tressel will want to average 200 yards rushing and 230 yards passing for a good balance with about 30+ pts a game.
Granted, we have potentially a much better and more consistant offense than in 2002 because we are loaded at the QB position, the RB position, the WR position, the TE position, and on the OLine. When is the last time that weve had THIS much of a problem as depth is concerned? Two years ago we knew whom the starters were and that was it, no arguing. This year at key positions we have alot of talent lobbying for playing time. I believe we will develope a RB combo that will absolutely KILL teams late in the year. If Zwick limits the mistakes and gains confidence. He has the potential to be one of the best QBs in OSU history and we will never see Smith on the field again.
I loved Craig Krenzel because he was a true leader and very intelligent, BUT admit it...you about pulled your hair out with fear every time he dropped back didnt ya?

No I didn't pull my hair out when CK went back. I usually just started saying WOSAHHH WOSAHHH.....
Anyways, Good post 40. I agree completely and its nice to see someone start talk'n about actual football formations cuz it shows you know alot bout football.
I share the excitement, but I also am a little worried. Only reason I'm worried is because I don't want to see JT try to make this a running team. Now I believe Tressel will for sure stick with what was working last year (atleast I hope). I'm not perdicting a juggernaught of an offense like Boise or Lousiville but I don't think an offense like what California did is too far off. I hope and pray that we just don't go back to our old ways thats all.

Thanks man, but there is no way that Jt makes this a running team unless we are putting up 250 a game and doing it with ease. We have way too many weapons to use in the passing game. Now if he is running reverses with Ginn and Holmes and Smith is getting 50 yds. a game a we are only throwing 15 times that is ok, but no way do we hand the ball off more than 50% of the time.

Good point, Tress seems to control the ball using the ground game, no matter how it is carried out. If he is determined to run the ball, he will find a way. I can see more direct snaps to Ginn after what he did in the Alamo Bowl.

IronBuck is pretty close with this post here. He hits the nail on the head. Tressel has a strong mind when it comes to knowing the capabilities of his players and what they can do. All the way from the starting defense and offensive people down to the scout squads tht prepares during the days before the big game. My case in point is this----------- take a good look at our past 3 bowl games. All games were in a different format or look. Miami, Kansas State, & the Pokes had difficulte times in trying to figure Ohio State. But this year of 2005, this team is extra loaded I believe. God only knows what we will expect. I hope the expectation aren't too high cause after all its still gonna be "TresselBall" and I guess he will have us all second guessing him in game situations. He has done it before and he will do it again i guess
