Defense w/o Mark Snyder
First Dantonio; then Tucker; now Snyder. The D is going to be confused, not by the other teams, but by new coaches. Who now? Anybody for Heacock? If not, why not?

We are losing 1 DL, Fraser, and have experienced guys that can fill his position (not be as dominant but average). And we are losing 1 CB, but in our scheme we only need that corner to be a great tackler and Whitner/Everett will be up to the task.
Last year we struggled b/c the DL was revamped and young, and struggled to get penetration in the 1st half of the season. We have the best LB corps in the nation and probably ever at tOSU. And if one of them gets hurt, D'Andrea should be a solid replacement. Our LBs will take over the majority of our games this year. We'll be fine. |

it seems like tressel likes to hire guys he has coached with previously at y-town. anyone know of any defensive coaches out there with tressel ties that we should be looking at? anyone know what is up with coach tenuta?

Many think Heacock is somewhat close to retiring, so he might not be a viable choice to upgrade to DC. If we had to go with Bo Pelini or Bob Davie, who would you guys prefer?
Both are great choices, the difference I see is that Bo will be gone in 1-2 years for a HC job whereas Davie might have to wait a little while for a team to take a risk on him. Davie is famous for the smothering D he played down at Texas A&M. |

I'd rather have Davie I think. I like the fact he'd probably be here more than 1-2 years. We've been through some DC's recently, we need some stability there. I also think his style would fit in well. Snyder had success when he got aggressive toward the end of the year.

I would go for Davie too. Both are good, but it would be nice for program stability if he would be around longer.
Do you guys think that Speilman would be a good pick to coach the d? I don't know that he would go for it - just hypothetical. Last edited by Buckeyefan_6; 03-15-2005 at 09:36 PM. |

Whoever it is it would be nice of them to stick around for at least three years. I understand they want to move on and accept head coaching jobs, but it would be really hard for the team to be consistant if we changes coaches every year.
