QB Rocky Hinds, a major recruit a few years ago, will transfer from USC. He realized the numbers would not allow him an opportunity to play. Hinds says a number of schools are possibilities.

USC has talent... the schedule is not easy, however I don't know if I'd call it tough...
The big question is the loss of Chow... if they had him I doubt any team would come close to beating them, we'll see how the new OC does... lord knows he has talent to work with (10's across the board seems a bit high, you can argue numbers, however the fact is they are a loaded team)...

JUCO DL Gabe Long will not have the academics to get into USC this semester. He was expected to compete for playing time at the DT position.

I remember reading that one of your other DTs might be in trouble. How is the overall picture at DT looking now that the dust has settled a bit...

That was by far the Trojans' biggest weapon. The adjustments that Chow would make during halftime would freaking CRIPPLE the opponent. It's just gross what an amazing OC Chow was.
Uh oh, Chow's not around anymore. They're a damn good team, very deserving of #1, but they have a huge handicap compared to last year, and someone is going to take them down. (Ohio State in the Rose Bowl PLEEEEASE!)

I don't think that stat was intending to show Chow's halftime prowess. That really wasn't his specialty. USC's first half scoring was actually higher (272). As you can see, that is pretty consistent.
That stat was attempting to show Carroll's halftime prowess. His D only gave up 65 points in the 2nd halves of games, compared to 104 points in the first half.

They both had their moments last year. Chow's success in isolating Reggie Bush made the difference in the opener against Va. Tech, and Carroll's halftime adjustments stuffed Stanford in the second half.
