College Football Coach Ratings

I did a search and couldn't find anything about this here, so ... I don't know if anyone has ever seen this, but I found a link to this site via a blog I stumbled upon this morning. I have not been able to find out much about this site, or verify it's credibility, but it is apparently a Web site that allows former NCAA D1A players to submit their grades of their current or former college coaches ... Jim Tressel is tied with Kirk Ferentz for the highest rating among all coaches with a 9.6 out of 10. Only a handful of coaches grade higher than a 9.

The information appears to be a year out of date however, as Gary Nord was still listed as the coach of UTEP (with a 4.5 grade) as opposed to Mike Price, and Mackovic was still listed at Arizona (with a 4.9 grade).

Interesting, but the only facet of the questionaire in which Tress got a perfect score (5.0) from all 13 current or former players was "Coach treated all players the same regardless of race" ... I guess that answers some of those racial conspiracy theories in the argument about why Zwick would ever start over Smith.

Doesn't surprise me. The book is still out on Meyer. He hasn't built a Program yet. He's walked into two good situations (in non-BCS Conferences) and has done a great job, but that's still a far cry from putting him in the category of Stoops, Tressell, or the elite coaches in CFB.

Should be interesting to see what he can do with the Gators.

The low score for Bill Snyder doesn't surprise me. No one on this board harps on it too much (because we won), but the fact that he didn't suspend (or bench, or even sit for a series) his QB before the Fiesta Bowl should tell you a lot about the man. He's also very unfriendly with the Media, has built up an enormous ego, and is deathly afraid to put a team with a pulse on his out of conference slate.

Granted, what he's done with K-State is miraculous. He's an outstanding coach, but he's got a lot of baggage which is reflected in his rating.

for these 2 ?'s people gave him his lowest scores, but if you were to put a 1 for those it means you strongly disagree. So he probably got knocked in the rankings for not embarrasing his players publicly and allowing input from other team sources.

If you visit the site and look around you'll see scores for men's bball and baseball. Both O'Brien and Matta got 9.0s, Bob Todd is in the 6s though.

I would love to find out who runs this site -- if it's legit -- and I'd like to see more players submit their opinions so that the sample size is more meaningful and the grades level out a bit.
