OL Josh Kerr
Someone on Bucknuts is reporting that Josh Kerr, brother of LB John Kerr just passed a physical and will now be walking on at Ohio State. Coming out of high school he had signed with Cryami U. He has nice size, but with our depth I'm not sure if he'll ever see the field.

Yep. That was the reason that Miami gave for reneging on his commitment, anyway.

Not surprised he's walking on with us. That family is certainly Buckeye fans at heart. At this point, he's a solid 3rd teamer, but he definetly has room to move up if he's good enough. And unlike his older brother, he's eligible to receive a scholarship if JT & Company see fit.

Even though neither started out at OSU, two Kerr brothers from Strongsville have ended up playing for the Buckeyes.

Linebacker John Kerr played at Indiana in 2002, then transferred. He now is a fifth-year senior and penciled in as the starting middle linebacker.

Offensive lineman Josh Kerr was a University of Miami recruit in 2004. But the Hurricanes asked Kerr to "grayshirt" and enroll in January 2005.

Kerr decided to come to OSU instead. He attended an OSU branch campus, then started at the main campus this spring.

He is on scholarship and eligible to play immediately.

Both of his parents have said he is transferring. The school cannot comment on his status at all. His roster status will change going into summer.

From the article, I can't tell if he was taking classes in 2005. But if he was, I don't believe he'll be able to use a redshirt year in the future, since the 5-year clock would have started ticking last year, whether he was on the team or not.
