I guess he never made it past admissions at Miami.

Josh Kerr is an OL from Strongsville who's the brother of John Kerr, the LB that transferred from Indiana. He was originally going to grayshirt at Miami.

He's John Kerr's younger brother. Josh signed with the Hurricanes in 2004 as an OL. He was going to take a grayshirt at Miami but I guess never made it past admissions.

If he can make it academically, this should be a good pickup.

If "The U" signed him as a 2-star recruit, they must've seen something really good...they usualy don't sign crappy OL, well, except for Rohmberg.

I wonder if he will be the same impact player his brother turned out to be.

If anyone can verify, I was always under the impression that admission requirements at Ohio State (and most other schools) are less rigorous for an in-state kid than they would be for an out-of-stater.

yeah.. Miami is a private school.. generally (generally) that is associated with higher admissions standards.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but somehow I suspect that private school or no...and even "good" school or no....Miami is going to find a way to take a major FB prospect no matter what it takes...as long as the prospect meets minimum NCAA standards.
Frankly, I think this is true of virtually all of these major private schools that seriously want to have an impact Div.1 program. And, of course, the "private" schools often have a great deal more flexibility than many of the more rigid public funded schools. I'm beginning to sense that tOSU is evolving into one of these latter schools. Which is fine for academics but maybe less fine for sports. And probably that is the way it should be, even if I drive a stake through my tongue when I say it. Go Bucks! |

I'm not sure about that, they let Willie Williams in...
I read that Kerr missed admissions by not taking a core course that Miami requires for admission. |

Kerr's other offers were WV and Cincy so the Miami offer was always something of a surprise. It is possible that Miami had second thoughts and no longer had an incentive to get him qualified. It happens.
