4 Kegs is definately the most popular place as far as I know, they have lots of special nights and are lax on underage drinkers as long as you stay outside from what I hear.

A 5 year old could drink outside.
I used to drink there all the time when I was under.
Most of the time inside, they never seemed to care.

Shamrock Towing... thanks for reminding me, Folonator... those bastards got me at least ten times... i remember once i parked my car in a little lot off Pearl Alley, and literally walked 12 steps over to my buddy's place on Chittenden to ask if it was cool there... he said nope, and by the time i walked back- no more than ONE MINUTE later, there went my car around the corner... BOY WAS I [censored]ED!!! fargin bastiges!

Campus partners ruined South High... the last time i was back there, i didn't even recognize the place... took me all the way up to the Newport before it started looking familiar again... but then again, most of those bars were dumps... it's just kinda sad when i hear a song on the radio, and it reminds me of Sunday Nights at Coeds drinking pitchers of swill for $1 and some chick who i can't really even remember except for the fact that i hooked up with her, only to think that those places don't even exist anymore...

BOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, well, last week, my friend has organized the Amature Comedy night at the union. Guest judging was Andy Dick, Colin Quinn and Tracy Morgan. Colin and Tracy went to 4 kegs afterwards, and obviously drew a larger crowd. They were quoted as saying something to the effect of "Damn, you guys know how to party on a Wednesday f*cking night!!!!"

Still The "Weck" was a large bun with onion baked into the top.

Popular in Upper NY State, Wecks dind't travel well.

Hence, no more Weck, just BW3.

Still have some of the best wings anywhere, a great beer selection, and generally good sports TV.

I have to reply to this thread since I wanted to about 5 times.

First of all weck is the type of bread BW3's serves burgers on. It has since changed to Buffalo Wild Wings since no one knew what the heck weck was. The BW3's on campus IS the original BW3's. B Dubs started in Columbus, not Kent.

There used to be a second one on South campus but it shut down.

There is at least one bar on campus at the Ohio Union, but I believe there is a 4 beer max. There also used to be one at the Union by the towers, but I think it is gone. I could be wrong on these facts. Been a while since I even thought about going to one of these establishments.

Yes, there are still many bars left (BTW, it's Out 'R' In on Frambes), but many of the South bars that got nailed for underage drinking are gone. I went to school from 93-98 and saw the whole Campus Partners litigation in action. Essentially, they are a group that was formed in order to clean up the sleazy South Campus bars (for Texas people, it's not actually on campus but right across the street). They got the city to start enforcing underage drinking laws more strictly. Once a bar got too many violations the city would revoke their liquor liscense (a few actually tried to stay open with no alcohol, they lasted about a month). The city would also prevent new liquor liscences in the area. This left it wide open for Campus Partners to come in and buy the property cheap. The few descent establishments sold out for a decent profit.

Finally, HINEYGATE! It's a pre, during, and post party. It gets packed after the game. Still fun during the game since you can watch the game on a huge Jumbotron and drink a few cold ones at about $3 per beer. I now live in Michigan, and every year a bunch of my buddies and myself trek down for a game just to hit Hineygate. Most of them don't even like Ohio State, but they love the party (no Michigan fans allowed, but I enjoy the Sparties...they is good people). Although since the 2003 year the party has toned down. Prior to 2003 open container was allowed on the streets and even campus. They have cracked down big time. Still a great time, but there was nothing like hanging out on Lane Avenue with a 12 pack and partying.

Well, there's my 2 cents and then some. For any visitors, it's still a great time. Despite some rumors, most Ohio State fans are rather fun to party with. Well, unless you wear Blue and Corn. In that case you may get random beating for no reason.

Its not Holbrook's fault. They started cracking down on that stuff back in the '94-'95 school year under Gordon Gee.

I remember drinking WITH the cops as an 18 year old my freshman year. Begining in September '94, they started bringing out the paddywagons, busting balls, & looking for drinkers like bloodhounds, and all that [censored] was over.

Shoot, I was able to walk down Lane drinking a beer up until two years ago. That's when Holbrook really began the crackdown,IMO.
