Has anyone seen a breakdown of what Brandon's yards per carry are out of the shotgun vs. with QB under center? I'd be really interested in seeing those tallies.

Awesome athletic ability shown by Saine today on his TD reception...he leaped from about the 3 yard line and flew in easily! Very nice!

Going to need Brandon to show up big time next week vs Iowa since it looks like Boom may be out again!

I've watched the replay a number of times and his athleticism on that play was very impressive. HUGE burst when he dove for the endzone. Probably my favorite play of his this year.

Brandon Saine still has that extra gear. After coming in with a reputation for being a ?burner? from his track days at Pique High School, tailback Brandon Saine has actually developed into a 220-pound tackle-breaker. Before his concussion against Minnesota, Saine was putting together a fine junior season and he seemed to regain his vision and determination against Iowa. He carried the ball only 11 times (compared to 32 carries for Herron), but finished with 103 yards and two touchdowns (tripling his season total). The only other OSU tailback to run for 100 yards this season was also Saine against Indiana. His first touchdown run ? a 22-yarder where he bounced off two tacklers and carried another into the end zone ? was the kind of run we?ve become accustomed to from Saine this season, but it was his second run that opened some eyes. Following an interception by linebacker Ross Homan, Saine took a handoff running left and blasted through the hole and down the left sideline, 49 yards into the end zone, showing the kind of afterburners people expected to see from him when he got to Ohio State.

COLUMBUS -- Brandon Saine only carried the ball on 11 of Ohio State's 51 running plays Saturday, but it would be hard to find a more impactful 11 touches.

Saine, the Buckeyes' junior running back, had scoring runs of 22 and 49 yards and a game-high 103 yards in Ohio State's 27-24 overtime victory against visiting Iowa. Ohio State became the first team in 2009 to rush for more than 200 yards against Iowa's stout defense, and it gave the Buckeyes just enough offense to overcome a surprising performance from Iowa freshman quarterback James Vandenberg.

"I have to give all of the credit to the offensive line," Saine said. "They were making all of the correct reads. They got me to the line of scrimmage like they were supposed to, and I had to let my talent take over."

My 2 Cents: Yesterday Brandon only scratched the potential of what he could finally blossom into. Saine is listed at 6'1", 217, and has proven 10.3 speed in the 100M. He is as physically blessed as any RB anywhere.

Another VERY solid performance from Saine. The fumble (although recovered) hurt a bit as it stalled a drive and we really needed it in the 3rd Quarter, but otherwise...just TOUGH running.

Player to Watch: Brandon Saine, RB, Ohio State

Last week against Michigan, Wisconsin?s John Clay gained 151 yards on 26 carries. The week before, Purdue?s Ralph Bolden gained 136 yards of total offense and scored three touchdowns. Saine could dominate this game single-handily for Ohio State, and after averaging 9.4 yards per carry against Iowa?s defense, this game might feel like a breeze for the junior back.
