I was luke-warm about the last couple of hires, but this one really has me pumped. At the end of last season lots of folks were lamenting the fact that OSU had the second best OL in the state - behind Miami. To get the coach that put that line together, regardless of his role on the staff at the moment, is great news.

Can you imagine how Mike Stoops feels. Just right in the middle of spring practice Jon Peterson jumps ship, but thats the way it goes i guess. The
one positive that i can see here, is that a load will be lifted off of bollmans
backside with Jons addition to the staff. This will free up more time for Jim bollman to concentrate on his blocking schemes to be used. Ya just have to think bollman is relieved at some point.

Should he be relieved or worried about his job? as oh8ch just said we just hired the coach who put together the only oline better than ours in the state, and did it with an enferior school

Dave Biddle replied to my question on BN about whether or not he would be involved with the ENTIRE offense line. Biddle said not only would he be involved in the line but that he would be our OL coach in 3-4 years.....Great news!

bollmans job is very safe. He is a coach T. pick and is very well respected at this time.

Football Coaches Post Practice Quotes
John Peterson, tight ends coach
On Jake Ballard, sophomore tight end
"He's getting better every single day. He's a young strong powerful player with explosive hips. As he learns the blocking schemes and gets stronger he gets better."
On the play of the tight ends
"We have two starting tight ends (Rory Nicol and Jake Ballard) and Brandon Smith is right there and is getting ready to step in."
On the play of Rory Nicol and Jake Ballard
"Both have the ability to be dominant blockers. Both of them are front side back side, so you can't get a pinpoint on where the plays going and they both compliment each other well."
On if the team will overlook Northwestern
"No, I think the reality of playing in the Big Ten and how you have to be at your peak will motivate them. This is the new first game of our season."

Well, if some people would refrain from reading 100 pages of a game thread there'd be more posts in other threads...
