Tyler Moeller
![]() Cincinnati (OH) Colerain Height: 6-foot-1 Weight: 200 pounds 40-yard dash: 4.5 seconds Scout Profile Tyler holds offers from Indiana, Kent, Miami (OH), Virginia Tech, and Iowa, who offered after seeing him in person in camp last weekend. Tyler is expecting offers from Cincinnati and Louisville soon. According to sources, the recruiting of Colerain's hidden gem is about to heat up immensely. Tyler had 120 tackles, 11 sacks and an interception in 2004. His father played at Kent State. Many schools are projecting him as a Safety, but Iowa has made it clear they want Tyler as an OLB. So far, tOSU's interest is slim, but that could change as this situation takes shape. Video $ Last edited by osugrad21; 06-09-2005 at 12:05 PM. |

Tyler sent tapes to OSU and OSU acknowledged receipt of the tapes but has not heard anything since.
LSU wants to wait unitl the fall to offer him a scholarship but Tyler says he will verbal before the season starts and LSU is steppping up their efforts to free a scholarship for him before then. BTW...rivals is correct with his 2.7 overall GPA. Tyler started off poorly as a freshman as a student but just completed his second straight year with 3.0 or better GPA. Good kid, good family. I wish him the best. |

Tyler is pure speed and quickness and delievers a serious wallop when he gets to the point of impact. But I don't think he is going to get much taller then 6-1 and around 215 to 220...he has a hard time keeping weight on. This is why most coaches project him as a hard hitting safety. But Tyler can fly and gets excellent leverage off the edge and wants to continue as an OLB in college. That is where the Iowa and VaTech offers come into play (as well as Miami-OH) because their defensive schemes allow for a blitzing OLB that can fly off the edge regardless of size. I like them both, as you could proabably tell...lol...But if Tyler were to give in and accept the move to safety, his stock would rise even higher. |

The Hokies had to find a way to keep up with the Miami Hurricanes in the Big East and they fought fire with fire by recruiting speed and athleticism on defense. That’s exactly why they’ve offered Ohio's Tyler Moeller a scholarship. </td></tr> <tr> <td colspan="3"> Tyler Moeller is one of the fastest and most active linebackers I’ve seen on film this year. It’s easy to overlook the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder, he plays for one of the best programs in the country, he doesn't have the ideal size college recruiters are looking for in a linebacker and has two or three teammates that are D-1 prospects as well. Moeller had 120 tackles, 11 sacks and 1 interception as a junior. He’s extremely quick off the edge and he can defend the pass extremely well. Tyler is a sure tackler and packs a great punch. Is he a linebacker or safety in college? I’ve been in the recruiting business for 11-years now and any college coach will tell you it’s easier projecting moving forward rather than backwards. For instance in Moeller’s case, it’s easier to project him moving forward to defensive end than it is for him to move backwards to safety. Tyler doesn’t have the size to play defensive end but he will add some weight and be a super outside linebacker in college. Moeller now has offers from Virginia Tech, Miami (Ohio), Kent State, Eastern Michigan and Ohio University. The Moeller family told Scout.com that Tyler’s favorites at this time Miami (Ohio), Virginia Tech, Louisville, Iowa and Indiana. Moeller recently camped at Iowa and the Hawkeye coaches were very impressed. An offer from Iowa could come when Moeller returns to Iowa in the next few weeks for a visit. Today Moeller is camping at Louisville, one of the fastest rising programs in the entire country. Louisville used to be a basketball school but Bobby Petrino changed the landscape in the Bluegrass State. Early next week, Moeller will be camping at Cincinnati. He’ll also be making stops at Michigan, with his teammates, and he’ll also be camping this summer at Indiana, Purdue and possibly West Virginia and Indiana. With Virginia Tech stepping out and offering Tyler Moeller a scholarship, don’t be surprised if other major D-1 programs follow suit. Iowa, Purdue, Indiana and Louisville are all programs that look for tough outside linebackers that run like a safety and Moeller fits that mold.</td></tr></tbody> </table> |
