Life After Football
Thread on BN that got sidetracked to a discussion of athletes in cop-out majors (Kinesiology). Well, that got me thinkin... If there's one thing Tressel stresses it's that his players must prepare for life after football. Want some proof? Here's an approximate list of our players' majors (2004 roster from www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com--and any mistakes are, of course, my own.

Something tells me that our team is working for their grades (and doing a damn good job of it), and that they'll be ready for life after OSU, whether it be in the league, or in the world at large.

Note how spread out our guys are... we don't have half of our team pigeonholed somewhere with the other troglodytes.

Only one sports and Leisure major in ~93 listed (and I probably miscounted a few of those--again, it's late)

Many undeclared students... but it's fairly normal for underclassmen... note that NO Juniors/Seniors are undeclared.

How does one major in "Science"?

Only one African American Studies major. I'm not sure why, but this surprises me a bit. It seems to me that this is another major that seems to draw a lot of football players... apparently not at Ohio State.

And yes... we have a Nursing Major.

RE: Nursing
Once you get over being the next Gay Focker (not being a doctor) going to class with predominately women would be real easy to do. Going to class at the business building is definitely rewarding, just not while you're in school because the women were really not that plentiful in my day.

This should be NO SURPRISE...you have to declare in your Junior year per NCAA rules...I went thru this BS! Any other student can take as long as he/she wants to declare, but an athelete must declare in his Junior Year! BS!

I didn't declare til I had about 1 maybe 2 Q's to go. I knew what I was Gonna declare a lot earlier than that, but was too lazy to do anything about it, til I decided to see an academic advisor about what classes I need to take to get out of dodge.
