I think one reason that we seem to recruit a large number of LBs is that the coaches assume that at least a couple every year will bulk up enough to move to the line. With the quality of OSU's s&c program, and the fact that most players won't see serious playing time for the first year or two, an LB with a good frame can grow into a DE, or a DE to DT. One of the things I really like about Tressel's recruiting is his evaluation based on size and speed, rather than the position played while in HS. I think this shows a lot of faith in the athlete's ability to learn a new position. Sometimes when a mentor shows that they believe in a young man's potential, it gives the young man more confidence in himself and what he can accomplish.

Tressel said Shawntel Rowell, a defensive tackle from Glenville High, will not enroll for the fall semester as part of the 2008 recruiting class. Instead, Tressel said Rowell is likely to enroll for the winter quarter.

There's some static about Rowell going back into the pool of "recruitable athletes" Does the BP Recruiting Team have anything on this?

I would think that his LOI is now invalid (for lack of a better word) since he will not be in school this Fall so he probably could be "recruited" by other schools but I have to believe he will stay with the Buckeyes.

Rowell hopes to enroll in winter quarter, but Heacock said he's technically fair game to be recruited by other schools. It makes you wonder if the kid might switch to a school that might make it easier for him to qualify, if you know what I mean.
