Yup, we're overrated. The top football schools are always overrated because there's always some schools that surprise everyone. We're not the worst offenders by far in the overrated category (Texas A&M and Notre Dame are much worse). For a statistical analysis of this idea, look here:

Thats a good point. And with the way that some of the media was drooling over Hart and Henne, and the fact that they were both freshmen, I'm a little surprised that they're ONLY #4. Has Henne EVER made a mistake, in the eyes of the media, or is he Tom Brady, reincarnate? And the way the announcers praise Hart for scoring from 2 yards out is disgusting. Braylon Edwards, the greatest athlete since Johnny Unitas, in their opinion, is gone, but either Breaston or Avant will soon fill the void. But that's off-topic, I guess.
I really don't think I care much about rankings. I'm curious and I find myself checking the rankings whenever I see that they're out, and it's interesting to see what kind of opinions the rest of the country has about different teams, but I don't think I'm any less excited with a 20+ ranking than I am with a top-5 ranking. It's all about some self-appointed "experts" who claims to know everything about college football. And many of them are the same guys who picked Miami to beat Ohio State by 2 touchdowns.

Louisville was a dropped interception in the numbers away from beating Miami and going undefeated last year. They're very good and bring back a lot. I wouldn't be surprised to see them run the table this year. #1 may be a stretch right now but I wouldn't have a problem with them being in the top 5.

Thanks for the link. Off topic, but through that site I stumbled across a link to this fine quote from Gary Moeller:
“Ginn reminds me of Bo Jackson, Moeller said. “If you’re on defense, you don’t want him getting to the sidelines. You’ll have a hard time catching him.

Nice article TheMile. Perhaps it seems to many OSU fans that Michigan is overrated so often because we tend to be that much more underrated (3.1 above original predictions)
