In 1899, tOSU allowed only 5 points in 10 games, but that's ancient history.
Just to list the teams allowing 10 points or less since 1945:
The 1954 team allowed 07.50 (75 in 10 games, won NC)
The 1956 team allowed 09.00 (81 in 9 games)
The 1957 team allowed 09.20 (92 in 10 games, won UPI NC)
The 1960 team allowed 10.00 (90 in 9 games)
The 1962 team allowed 09.22 (83 in 9 games)
The 1964 team allowed 08.44 (76 in 9 games)
The 1969 team allowed 10.33 (93 points in 9 games)
The 1973 team allowed 05.82 (64 in 11 games)
The 1975 team allowed 08.50 (102 in 12 games)

The best defense is a dominant offense.
Only time will tell. Here's to hoping for great things to come...

Tell me how well incredible offenses worked for the Colts, or for Michigan, etc.
You didn't offer an opinion, you stated that Nugent, one of the best kickers in a long time, being recognized for his dominance is not good.
Do we need a better offense? Yes... but any good coach will take a great D and average O vs. the opposite anyday of the week.
It would be very hard to compile more NFL talent (that was utilized fairly well) than Miami had. Yet we went in there with a very mundane offense, and BEAT them. On paper, we could never compare to their offensive firepower (sure jenkins and clarett were good, but they did have more talent on O... the other squads are a different story). Did it matter then?
Defense wins championships. Let me know the next time you hear coaches teaching their kids that offense wins championships. You need offense too, but D always comes first.

You all are missing the point wide left in a big way.
It is obvious that a Texas Tech, Indy Colts comparison is not even in the realm of reality.
OSU will always have defensive strength. But, considering the weapons (see offensive players in the League), the scheme of:
Run, Run, Pass, Punt for Field Position and let the defense bend but not break and hold onto a slim lead or have to rely on a lenghty field goal late in the game to win is NOT the best way to utilize our assets.
Hey, I want to win as bad as anyone, but I will not sit around and say..."Oh, did you see the Michigan game or the Bowl game. Everything is perfect now."
We need to improve in a big way on the offensive side of the ball if we wish to become a consistent power.
I want that as bad as anyone, that is why is speak my mind.
Sorry if I hurt any of your feelings or ruffle feathers.

Ah, when I normally want to let others hear about my theories of OSU needing a better offense (as if that's not painfully obvious)....I routinely trash the program as a whole. Especially the best kicker to come out of college in a long time. That's how I roll.

You think that people misinterpretted "The best defense is a good offense?" I guess I don't see how that can be interpretted any way other than, "Screw playing defense! Score more points, NOW!"

Sorry won't help when I'm driving home from work and I'm pissed about what you said and I flip off another driver for cutting me off and it turns out to be some short asshole with a Napolean complex and he pulls out a sawed-off shotgun and blasts my face clean off, will it?
