Ebay Ticket Scams (Merged)

This is something I sent to some bidder of some ticket even I was interested in. But a "red flag" popped up in the auction and then and even BIGGER one when I found the EXACT SAME TICKETS offered in another auction. With this being the BIGGEST Game of the year outside the NC, there are bound to be people that take advantage of unsuspecting people, so be careful when buying. It's too easy to copy and past a photo from another auction and try to sell tickets for a quick $800 or so bucks!

BEWARE OF THESE TICKETS YOU'RE BIDDING ON...I HAVE FOUND ANOTHER AUCTION FOR THE SAME EXACT TICKETS...EVEN POSTED THE SAME PICTURE, BUT THESE ARE IN AUSTIN, TX. WITH THIS BEING SUCH A HIGH PROFILE GAME THERE ARE BOUND TO BE PEOPLE THAT TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE. NOT SAYING THAT'S WHAT'S GOING ON HERE BUT THE FIRST THING THAT THRU ME OF WAS LONDON? I EMAILED THE GUY AND HE RESPONDED...BUT THAT WAS BEFORE I DISCOVERED THE IDENTICAL AUCTION IN TEXAS(If any are legit it's these). YOU BE THE JUDGE. HERE ARE THE ITEM NUMBERS.

The auction in London was posted first.
I think the second one is suspect.

Good look out man. This is really friendly of you to share info for us all. Im sure all could have used our own judgement, but to be quite honest, everyone can be tricked. If I would have had $900 to spend on Texas tickets, I really wouldnt had thought to think/see if they are duplicated tickets as I have always had ncie outcomes with EBay sellers.

Anytime someone tries to get you to pay with Western Union, it's a scam. Run the hell away.

This is true. Same thing happend to me a few years ago for the scUM game. Once you pay by WU there is no getting your money back. Don't ever pay unless it's paypal or something like it w/ buyer protection...

LONDON is for sure suspect...check out his email to me after I aske how he go them and he's in London...then read what I got from the Kid in Austin!

"My wife got the tickets last week in a business trip in USA.

From the kid in Austin: "I had a gentalman use the buy it now and then came back on his end of the deal and say that he didn't have the money, so I relisted the tickets. I swear I have the ticktes. I go to UT and they issued the tickets on Monday. And I live in Austin, which my description points out."

IF either of them are legit it's the ones in Austin! NO DOUT...the guy in LONDON asking people to NOT BID and then asking for payment by WESTERN UNION...FOUR tickets for $800? Too good to be true! His wife got them on a business trip...yeah right! SCAM!

Easy...ask for a pic of the tix lying on a current newspaper (that shows the date). You'll have your answer real fast. FWIW, though, I agree, the London guy (western union? Come on...) is definitely full of it. Somebody should contact ebay and let them know...they tend to frown on that sort of thing.

Ya I saw the london one on ebay . I thought it sounded a little funny that they were selling 2 season tickets with a buy it now for 1200. They said the money went to some kid who is dying or something. Here is how you can stay safe from ebay always... IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS.

I got the exact same email from the tickets in London and Belgium. Some say they are trying to help sick kids, business man out of town etc. I got scammed for the NC game and lost $1000. I always use caution nowadays and always prefer an in person exchange if possible. I know the listings for 4 tix @ $800 are most definitely suspect. Nice to start a thread to address the issue.

Like others have said, Western Union is a major red flag. My gf worked at KMart before going to school and she did Western Unions all the time. Several times people would come in asking how they could get the money back cuz they never received the merchandise. One guy got taken for $1500 thinking he was getting a motorcycle.

Western Union doesn't trace anything and they send to PO Boxes, so it's easy to scam somebody. WU is for people who know each other ONLY.

I have found many bull[censored] scams out of the UK and London. I would run the hell away from both!

This is a scam. I told the guy I would pay the "buy it now" price of $650 for the 4 tickets, IF we went through escrow.com. Mysteriously, I never got another email from him after that and his userid was withdrawn, as well as the auction itself. The next day, he put the same tickets up under a different userid.

I should add the the London scammer DID have pictures of the tickets, so he must have someone helping him. Or he stole the image somewhere. In any case, he emailed me a picture within minutes of me asking for them.

That's what alerted me...it was the SAME picture of some tickets I was "watching"...and sure enough the SAME tickets in the picture and item description....there are about 5 others I have found since...BE CAREFUL PEOPLE...and if in OHIO go out of your way to make an IN PERSON EXCHANGE or talk to the person via phone to get a feel for everything.
