lol, this thread didn't make me laugh (I'm the one who added 'joke' to the subject line), but the convo that followed has.
I think the problem here is that we could all easily imagine the NCAA reopening an investigation again. I mean, they ran one, and cleared us. The reopened it, and effectively cleared us again. Tom Friend and company aren't going away, and it's his work (and 'journalism' like his) that successfully pressures the NCAA to dig deeper. Who hasn't worried about MoC starting up some new garbage to keep his name in the press now that he was released from the Broncos? What happens when the NFL as a whole gives up on him? Talent aside, the window is only so open, and only for so long, just ask Lawrence Phillips. Will MoC adapt to being a nobody earning 18-22k a year as a site laborer like William Perry? Or will he start pointing fingers and making bitter accusations again? Are insidious, parasitic and megalomaniacal 'boosters' going stop trying to hand wads of cash to star players just because they've been caught before? Will another housekeeper decide that if she covers a player's expenses, that when he goes pro she can get rich too?
The point is, we're all still a little shell shocked right now. Seemed like the moment we one the national championship, a thousand different people from a thousand different angles wanted to tear us down a thousand different ways. One more almost four years later? Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Does that mean we can't joke about it? No. But toying with people's fears about this subject is a bit like hiding in a dark bathroom at 3am, then jumping out and screaming when some half-asleep person stumbles in. Expect them to sputter out expletives after they catch their breath and their heart starts pumping again.

this has nothing to do with being able to laugh at yourselves... that would be relevant if you had posted a fark of tressel offering a player money.
We've had a number of violations, including Troy Smith's overblown incident for missing class... so its quite uncalled for to make a dumb joke like that one.
on a side note, you really like shouting, don't you? all caps = shouting on the internet

some of u out there are strange. let me ask this. how many of u that are bashing my joke, and getting all up in arms, have actually graduated from tOSU and contribute anything back to the institution?
Y'all are a blast and all, but I have to get back to the books. Board Exam on Friday and then lots of beer and celebration as we bust up mr. young. sorry if the post made any hearts skip. if u are feeling chest pain then MONA. morphine, O2, nitro, and an aspirin will do. Peace.

you're right, those that are alums and give money back... of which there are tons on here... they should just feel free to start other threads like 'Tressel in hospital' or 'Ginn injured'. And us nobodies that are merely diehard fans should never post on here.
We'll make sure to get on that MONA thing right away too.

My linking the 'fright' of a new NCAA investigation to a hypothetical about a heart-stopping startle in the middle of the night was done in humor. As your sense of that seems unsound, I don't mind stating the obvious.
In regards to your first set of questions, I think you might be surprised by the answers. As I recognize it as a rather banal effort to flame, I'll leave it to you to wonder what sort of people post on a form like this.
Thanks for stopping by. Out, out, brief candle.
--edit--
MONA is just the mnemonic he broke out afterwards. Morphine, Oxygen, Nitroglycerin, Aspirin. That and the boards are where we're supposed to be impressed.
