What's wrong with a 63 - 0 romp? (the best of both worlds!) Right now, the point is everyone would be happy if we could consistently score 28+, let alone 60+
This offense will not outscore Michigan State. I like our defense, but if the Drew Stanton that played the first half against Notre Dame shows up for 4 quarters then we'll get an L. No matter how good the defense is you've still got to score more than the bad guys.

LV - yeah, it's not as if I'm wholly adverse to a good Offense... Just meant I'm not gonna worry much about this one.
I think as the season progresses, we'll see a better product. Maybe I'm too optomistic. I just tend to think Tress' O builds on itself as the year goes on.

In Division II you can get by with a one dimensional team and of the two, a defense is going to win you more championships than an offense. But you can't do it very often in Division 1. The 02 - 03 team is the rare exception... and that was a team that when a certain halfback was healthy could lay the lumber on you from BOTH sides of the ball.
I can't imagine a blue chip running back, quarterback, receiver who'd want to play in Columbus if our offense remains as sick as it has been. What do you sell him on? Go to Columbus and be the one that shows the offensive coaches how to score?

either the O-line missed the blocking assignments, or the RB slips or misses the hole, or the WRs run the wrong route, or the QB doesn't see the open man, or the WR drops the ball, or-- well, you get it...
honestly, i don't think there's anything wrong with the approach or the playcalling, but i get VERY frustrated when the only consistency is that the O consistently manages to screw up...
PLEASE give me a nice clean drive, a la the first against Miami, three times a game! is that too much to ask? i'm not asking to score every time we have the ball, but... come on... is the concentration not there, or they are trying too hard? which is it? can't we just get to a happy medium? i'm not asking for 50 points a game, but there is just no reason they can't put up 35 per with the talent that they have...

I agree I think everyone was frustrated after the offensive performance, even coach T.
I just think it comes down to execution. It we catch the ball, and make a couple different reads then we are not having this conversation. That is what it always seems like.
I think it comes down to Execution and relaxing, going out there and having some fun.
Another thing I don't understand is all the people saying that Troy is pulling the ball down too early to run. There were times in the game against SDSU that he looked to 2 or 3 recievers and the pocket broke down and he took off, and other times when he saw the opening and took it. I think if Smith thinks he can get more yards by running on the particular play you have to trust his judgement.
I didnt see anyone criticizing him for running against scUM last year. I do agree I would like him to look down the field a little more, but that is going to come, they are going to have to loosen the defense up and Tress knows this.
