Biggest blowout ever?
im sure everybody is aware of the texas tech vs indiana state game this saturday. i just felt the need to mention that texas tech has some real problems if they are scheduling teams such as indiana state. the equivalency of this game is a solid high school team to a mediocre midget team. indiana state got DESTROYED by st francis indiana. now i was just at st francis the other day and i think st francis is no bigger than D2. even the fourth string players from tech will kill indiana states starters. obviously the question is why bother scheduling this team and then the other question is what do you do if your tech's head coach? do you think he is going to tell them to purposely fall down so the game doesnt get out of hand? people are SERIOUSLY considering tech might put up triple digits.

biggest blowout ever? i don't think so.
the biggest blowout ever happened in the early '20s when Georgia Tech, then coahed by John Heisman, beat hapless Cumberland 222-0... i don't see that being duplicated... the crazy thing is, they shortened the second quarter to 12 minutes, the third quarter to 10 minutes and the 4th to 5... the officials also went to a rolling clock after halftime... Cumberland was so undermanned that their coach suited up and played... the biggest blowout loss by Ohio State was at scUM in 1902... the Buckeyes lost 86-0... ironically, Carmen Ohio was written on the train ride home by a young trainer for the team... the biggest blowout win by Ohio State was 82-0 over Oberlin in 1921, i believe... i kick ass at trivia games... |

Your Georgia Tech-Cumberland score is correct, but was also in 1916. |

My grandfather (mother's side) was "captain" of that Oberlin team. The roster was already depleted with many of the upperclassmen off to war. Then, the week of the game, most of the starters and half the rest of the team were suspended for some sort of fraternity pranksterism. My grandfather, being from a different fraternity, was one of the few upperclassmen left on the roster. They elevated him to Captain for that game. They went around campus and recruited anyone who was willing to suit up to fill out the roster. The rest is, as they say, history. |

Portland State back in 1980 when they had Neil Lomax at QB put up 105 on Deleware State (both were DII). PSU at the time was one of the early run-and-shoot teams.
The most recent 100 point game involving D1A schools was in 1968 -- Houston hung 100 on Tulsa as payback for Tulsa's upset the previous year, which knocked Houston out of the top 10. Houston scored 49 in the fourth quarter. In 1989, Houston again was back at running up the score, this time against SMU (just off of probation), putting 95 on the board with Andre Ware and David Klingler. They combined for 1,021 yards passing. It will be interesting if it happens, but Leach will be highly criticized for it. |

Putting up 90+ points, etc., is flat out disrespectful and unsportsmanlike. The only one of the examples that BrutusBobcat gave above that I'd tolerate is when Houston got payback against Tulsa for being upset by them the previous year, and even then only if Tulsa was talking major [censored] about it...
