is the idea that the defenders will lose focus thinking its a fumble or incomplete pass... freeing up the WR?

I remember seeing that play work once, but I don't know who ran it. The guy catching the bounced lateral acted disgusted for a second, and the defense stopped playing, just as designed.

I think Whisky ran it once..but it was back in the Al Toone era. Then I think he threw a pass for a long gain.Also if Jo Pa's OL doesn't come to play, PSU could be shut out.
