Best team performances of the week

I've got a suggestion for a new kind of poll we could run at BP -- ranking the best performances by teams on a given week. Obviously, this is highly subjective, and depends on a lot of factors: dominance on both sides of the ball, final score, relative strength of each team, "beauty points", etc.

For example, last week's thrashing of Arkansas by USC would probably have been my top pick, possibly along with Louisville. Good losses are okay as well, though one can debate ranking the losing team ahead of or behind the team that beat them. Clemson gave Miami a great game and came up just short.

Some teams this week that just plain showed up to play:

1. Ohio State
2. Virginia Tech
3. South Florida
4. Minnesota
5. Michigan State
6. USC (after a slow start)
7. Boise State
8. Army (in a loss)
9. Wisconsin

Honorable mention #10: San Diego State, who finally stepped up and won a game by hanging 52 on hapless San Jose State.

Special mention for the "Defense wins championships Award" goes out to TCU and BYU who wrestled to a 51-50 final in overtime after what must have been a titanic battle of defense and field position football. /sarcasm
