Tressel was very predictable at YSU in winning his 4 national championships in 1-AA. I think the predictability thing is more of ploy to set up the defense into some second guessing. I refer back to the 2 huge plays against Michigan in 2002. The pass to Clarett that set up the 2nd play run by Maurice Hall. Michigan never saw those plays coming. Those kind of things are goals to a National Championships my friend.

Good point. Kind of like when Tressel pulled the field goal fake versus Miami. I'm not trying ot be a dick either. Had that play worked everybody would've been really shocked.

And that play WOULD have worked had it been properly executed. I love Simon Frasier, but the kid flat out missed his assignment and blocked NOBODY. If Simon makes that block, it's easily a first down, and maybe 6.

lv and San-
Just to clarify....I was trying to be sarcastic in my post and clearly failed. I have stated many times on the old site that people that bitch about play calling drive me crazy.
The same play that one time goes for a touchdown is many times the same play that gets blown up. People that bitch about playcalling just complain about the second situation.

HappyGo: I understand completely. IMO, unless a team has clearly more talent than its opponent, play calling can be a convenient nemesis. Sometimes it is warranted, I suppose, but more often your talk'n about plays gett'n blown up for one reason or another. At least that's the way I see games: someplace along the path of attack there is poor timing, blown blocks or too many D's in scheme that were not planned for when play was called or conceived. You've probably have better insight than I have on the subject.

Well, if our punter isn't any good..
Tressel might have to take more risks with his offense. The punter job has been exceptional the last couple of years and it seems like we don't have luxury to play just "field advantage" like we used to.
Not saying he is going to fun and gun, but if your punter is average, he might be forced to open it up.
