The way I see it, Texas has to lose 2 games for us to jump them. I guess it's possible that if we rise all the way to #3 and then Texas loses, we could jump them, but I think it wouldn't be fair (in fact, I'd be livid if that happened and the roles were reversed). And, frankly, I don't see Texas losing one game the rest of the season, more less two. The Big 12 is incredibly weak--some of the supposed best teams in the conference are turning out to be pretty weak: we all know OU's troubles, Iowa St. lost this weekend to a very mediocre Nebraska team, Okla. St. was absolutely pounded by Colorado, Colorado looked very bad in the Miami game, and A&M BARELY got by Baylor at home. I think Texas's most difficult game of the remaining season was the game that they won this past weekend at Missou. Accordingly, I think Texas will remain above us all year. That leaves USC (b/c I think the rest of the teams above us (Fla. St., Georgia, and Va. Tech will all lose yet this year). I am sticking to my claim before the beginning of the season that they'll lose at some point this year (Cal or ND seems most likely). However, I'm not sure that they'll fall below us with just one loss. The only way is that if we rise up at least a spot or two before they lose. Remember the media's love affair with USC--I think it may haunt us in the future. As I said, I hope I'm wrong and you're right, but I am a little skeptical. |
