Quick Question
Ok to a lot of you out there this might be an obvious thing for you, but im still not totally 100 percent on how it works.


For the ACC championship, say Florida St. and Va Tech are the top 2 teams, they do play at the end of the reguar season right? Or is it just determined on the team's record? And if they do play for the championship, itll count as a regular season game right? thanks for anyone who can help me out.

I'm sure its just like the big 12 and the SEC, they have two different "divisions" or something like that, all teams in a devision play each other, and the winners of the two divisions meet in the championship game. FYI, Florida State, and Va Tech are in different divisions I think, so they would play if they both win out.

Sdgobucks is right there are two divisions (below). The winner of each division plays each other in the ACC championship game. If Florida State and Va Tech win out they would play. They do not play each other in regular season.

Va. Tech and FSU are in 2 different divisions.

Miami is in Va. Tech's division, the winner of that game in Blacksburg looks likely to play Florida State on December 3rd in the ACC Championship game.

ok yeah, thanks. but when/if they do play, will the game count for the standings that determine the bowl games? like if they played, obviously one would lose, so would Ohio State be able to jump ahead of that team and get into a better bowl? or even say if Ohio State is #3 and Tech is #2, and then FSU beats Tech in the ACC championship, does Ohio State then go to #2 and the Rose Bowl?

The ACC is such a waste of a conference. Look at who is in Florida State's division. And there are only 3 contenders in the whole conference to be in the top 10 each year, and they have a championship game that could propel the winner over someone else who has a shot at the NC. That conference amazes me.

i would love to bitch about the acc but sadlly i am in big 12 country and we are flat out bad this year. aside from the sec i really don't think any of the confrences are all that great top to bottom

Bottom 5 of SEC: Kentucky (1-3), Mississippi (1-3), Arkansas (1-3), Mississippit St. (2-3), South Carolina (2-3)


Bottom 5 of Big 10: Illinois (2-3), Northwestern (2-2), Purdue (2-2), Indiana (3-1), Iowa (3-2)

Yeah, the top of the SEC might be better than the Big 10, but the bottom sure isn't. I'd have to say that the most solid conference top to bottom has to be the Big 10, SEC seems really top heavy to me...and don't forget Vandy, who is the worst 4-1 team in the country. Losing to Mid Tennessee State? Come on!

Yes, that game result counts toward the BCS standings.

No guarantee tOSU would pass them in that example but it's highly likely.
