I don't know how many times you see it in football, but it happens.
Teams don't come out and play very well after bye weeks. It also sucks when we are playing a night game and on the road. It is like 3 things are working against us.

make that 4 things, the weather def. had a affect on the game, but those 4 things are all what Big Ten games are about, in no way do i see this as a "upset", what if PSU was ranked #8 at the beggining of the year, they would be a top 4 right now, but no, they were unranked more than half-way through the season, and that is why we underestimated them because they were ranked #16 and not #4

So that's 7-6 in away Big 10 games under Tressel, and I'd imagine it gets worse, b/c we weren't very good in 2001.

So here's a question...does anyone else think it might be a good idea to schedule a few more OOC road games? I understand all the reasons we don't (needing to go undefeated, money, etc.), but it seems like we lulled into complacency sometimes when we play at home for 4 or 5 in a row, only to have the first road game against a big conference rival. I know we're going to Texas...maybe we need to make sure we have an OOC road game most years (doesn't have to be a "huge game", but we could go to Arkansas or something)? Would this help our results in conference play, which are the most important? The winner of the Big Ten hits a BCS game every year, and maybe it would be worth the risk of losing a gmae or 2 OOC if it helped us later in the year.

We now know why we plugged in Bowling Green next year in the open slot in middle of the Big Ten schedule, and that's to avoid to bye week.

Maybe we could lock up Kent State to be after our bye week every year until, say 2155.

gonzo and others have been very vocal about being very glad we don't have a bye week next week.
