WW is right. Let's get things rollin at BuckeyePlanet! I know ... it's rollin baby, it's rollin.
RAMdrvr1, if you want to tout SM over CK, you've just GOT to get the spelling right. I thought (or hoped) you were just being funny with the post but you butchered his last name - 3 of the last 5 letter are wrong. Normally I don't think posters care that much about spelling.
Mili, thanks, but the banning was courtesy of Hubs and RIP. Hubs got our friend when his name was Rod_Munch, and RIP nuked him as Rory_Calhoun. I just put those two bloodhounds on the scent and like magic ... problem solved. BTW, I can't ban anyone, so you're all safe from 3yards.
CleveBucks, let's get it going. Anyone love seeing the 3 swing passes to Ross and Hall. Gotta love getting those two the ball in an area where their speed and elusiveness are most effective. Don't even start me on CK or I'll be on my soapbox preaching to the choir about his virtues. Great first game, but I want to see how we do against a team that can really run the ball. Washington just gave up on the rushing attack.

The swing passes were a nice change of pace, but the screen to Childress still needs work. He needs one or two more blockers to get him out into open space. Maybe another WR in motion, or a TE lined up next to the tackle but pulls on the snap. From there he'll take care of everything else.

Yes the screen to Bam wasn't quite all there. I was still impressed that Bam almost turned it into a nice gainer. Looked for sure to be a no gain with Bam taking a beating on the tackle, yet a hesitation and spin move later and he's picking up 6 or 7. He will be very dangerous in slightly less traffic.

I'm thinking that until the running game starts gellin' (like a felon), OSU might be better served trying some short-yardage, high percentage passes like a swing passes and quick passes to the backs in the flats. The swing pass is a glorified hand-off and there's no one that says you can't throw that as many times as you want. It's a pretty safe pass too.
I think until Ross and Hall get it going, Tressel ought to think about throwing more of those short passes to the backs and letting them operate in space.
I'd love to see Hall get the ball in open space and turn on the jets.

I think if we are just a little pacient with Lydel and Mo Hall we will be pleasantly surprised. I dont think they have enough confidence that the hole will be there if they go full speed. That will come with a little game time. You could see a few spots in the game where they hesitated and allowed some of the defenders to get in position to stop them after a few yards. One play in particular was a play that Hall hit the hole just fine but if he had been going full speed from the start the Washington lineman would not have been able to get his hands on him at all he who knows what happens with his speed in the open field. I think it is close.
On the defensive side of the ball, I truely beleive we are better with D'andrea in the just from the athletisism that he brings. Pagac and D'andrea are gonna make mistakes from time to time but with Ds agility he can recover faster. I think he will be taking over that spot here soon. I also think Carpenter will be an upgrade to Reynolds when it is his turn. Dont take this the wrong way, I want Robert Reynolds out there now and all season, but Carpenter is really going to be a good linebacker for us. I think he has that A.J. Hawk type of ball-finding ability. When he was in there he was just always around the ball. He made a few tackles but was there on a lot more. Those 3 are gonna be as solid as any linebacking corp in the country for the next 2 years. Plus with the deapth behind them, WOW!
