BCS Formula to be tweaked
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/colle...-formula_x.htm
Probably a good change, but I suppose it really doesn't matter. I think Cooper said it best when he said something like: "Let's just win and let the polls take care of themselves."

Stoops has a valid point on revealing coaches' poll selections/rankings.
I always thought SOS was a saving grace in the comparison formula...thwarting larger programs that scheduled high per cent of puss n boots programs.

I read one that said they were throwing out SOS and margin of victory. I agree that they should get rid of margin of victory, but like SanClem I would not get rid of SOS. An undefeated Tulane could never handle being in a Big Ten or SEC conference schedule.
Why not get rid of the media polls, they are probably the most biased of any.

As far as I recall, margin of victory was abandoned before last year (thankfully). I think some form of SOS is benificial, but hard to accurately calculate.
Part of me thinks we really need a playoff, but I fear it would completely destroy the traditional bowl tie-ins...

I liked the SoS component... that way programs that played tough schedules were rewarded... also I don't like how they are dropping the minus one point for losses category... I think you should get dinged for losses. Guess they had to figure out a way so the numbers would have had LSU and SC playing each other last year...?????
Guess OSU will need to schedule two Ohio teams each year. Keep the $$ in state, and collect the W's

Yes, I believe magin of victory (MOV) has been out of the formula for 2 years now. MOV component was eliminated for the 2002 season.

3yards,
You are correct. MOV has been out for two years... they didn't want folks pulling a Spurier to get better BcS ratings... IMO that was a good move, promotes sportsmanship...
