This exact thing happened to me my Junior year playing against Delphos Saint John. Would have been 1990. Left middle finger half way down finger nail. Really. If I knew how to post pictures I would post a picture of it. Hurt extremely bad. I'm not sure if two helmets came together or if I got ot in an ear hole.

I caught my left index finger in a ear hole (back in 87' ) and the asshole yanked his helmet to the side . When he did that the skin around the index finger separated off around the bone (just like a cut all the way around the finger) so that the bone and meat were exposed. You could take the skin and slide it up and down the finger kind of like rolling your sock up and down your leg. It was awesome. it was so [censored]in cold I didn't feel a thing so I didn't know how bad it was. went to the sideline got a shot and taped it around the other three and finished. missed the next game though. Never played again with out having my fingers taped together to avoid it from happening again. My left index finger is still [censored]ed up from it
