His week-to-week improvement has been noticeable. There had been several times that opposing receiver had gotten behind him on intermediate and deep routes, but fortunately each time the QB overshot the receiver. I don't recall anyone getting behind Malcom in the Indiana game. By the time The Game rolls around, we could put him on any of their WRs and he'll stay with them.

both of those are the scheme the coaches pick, leaving him away from the RB or WR. Hardly his fault.
The kid is an absolute stud. He gives us so many options, b/c Malcolm can handle man-to-man fairly well.

I think he's being coached to play like Fox was coached. Don't get beat deep! People always ragged on Fox, but how often was he beat deep?

Jenkins is a true cover corner with ample speed to cover even the fleetest of receivers.
"The last time I did a 40 it was my junior year (in high school)," said Jenkins. "I ran like a 4.43."
Jenkins is not the only freshman defensive back to make an impact this fall. Safety Jamario O'Neal has seen action in the nickel package and on special teams in his freshman season. O'Neal was highly heralded coming to OSU and has for the most part lived up to the hype. OSU safeties coach Paul Haynes is high on O'Neal.
"He's a young Donte (Whitner)," said Haynes.
"I think he's going to be a Donte Whitner in a year or two. He's fast, he's strong, he has no fear. He's kind of like a puppy just running around out there. When he knows where the play is going, he gets there. Making him understand everything is going to take a year or so, but once he knows, he's pretty good," Haynes said.
OSU has several other freshman DBs who are redshirting this season, including corner Andre Amos who has also raised some eyebrows at Buckeye practices.
"We have a lot of freshman DBs who are looking real promising. I think the future is bright in the secondary," said Jenkins.

That one handed deflection to stop that pass in the Minny game was phenom. Look at his body control and how high he gets off the ground. Simply an awsome play.

In the minnie game the talking heads kept saying Maroney had excellent speed. Jenkins ran him down with relative ease when Maroney broke that long run in the first half, so either Maroney's speed is over hyped or Jenkins is a lot faster than most people realize, or at least I realized.
