Does Northwesterns success embarrass the Big Ten?
Part of me wants scUM to get beat today. By Northwestern no less. But the other part realizes that Northwestern is a paper tiger that will get humiliated in a major bowl game. Heck the worst thing would be if NW manages to actually win the conference and then they get their asses kicked in the BCS.
They looked bad against USC in 1996 and have looked even worse when they played against Tennessee and Nebraska. This year their defense is one of the worst in the nation and yet they are actually contending for the conference lead. Embarrassing.

Well, NU certainly has snuck up on a lot of people. Imagine what would be going on if they held on against JoePa and crew...
They're a better team than most people give them credit for, and they're actually quite banged up (Loren Howard's the first name that comes to mind). I am personally going to be quite worried when they roll into the 'Shoe... certainly more worried than I was about MN this week, and I've had this game circled as our 'caution' game all year.
If it IS an embarassment for NU to win the B10, then they'll have won it through OSU, so I can certainly see it being embarassing to fans like us. I do, however, think they can compete with teams outside the confrence. I have much more faith in them than PSU minus their best offensive player. They lost to scUM, yikes.
