Tough call. I think OSU would have a better shot with a spread like this on the road because the team can't travel as many backups. At home though, especially with senior day looming next week against NW, the subs will begin taking over midway through the 3rd, allowing the Illinois passing game some garbage scores.

Had to take the points. Unless we cover in the first half, I don't think JT will risk any high profile injuries with a two week season looming.

Sorry, mates, JT is going to stick in 2nd and 3rd string offense and defense before the 4th starts.
Gotta go with the Illini with the spread...

Good call. Tressel will not hammer anyone. Too much class, and you're right, he'll call off the dogs. The only way I see us making +34.5 is if Boeckman keeps handing off to Mo Wells, and he breaks one after another. Then we'll see the senior walk-ons, etc. Good time to rest the starters, heal up some of them with nagging injuries, as Northwestern will NOT be a piece of cake, and then comes......meatchicken.
The offense will be off-tackle right, off-tackle left, dare you to stop it. Maybe Ginn goes for 5 tds on punt returns, as I don't see Illinois doing much more than 3 and out all day long. I'm betting we see the defense second stringers in there by the second quarter.
On the other hand, Illinois has ALWAYS played us tough. They've had more talent, but they always come out strong.
Anyone disagree?

does anyone actually see Illinois scoring points? I realize the spread is awfully high, but 35 points is not that many given how we have done recently.

I agree we will handily. But at 34.5? Count the times we have scored 35 points this year. Are we capable of winning by 35? Sure. We have the horses. But we all know JT has a personal mercy rule. He won't do that to another Big Ten team. If our second teamers can't help but score, so be it. But I won't ever take a JT team on that high of a spread. Even for vCash.

IMHO, I dont see tressel calling off the dogs in the first half, no matter how much we are up. if we jump out to a 42pt lead in the first, its smooth vsailing from there.
