I'll tell you what...let's wait till the end of the year, look up the top 25 teams in terms of both total and scoring offense, find out the OC's name and start with that list. I know its simplistic but I'm really not in the mood for another relative from Y'town to show up on our door.
We have the resources to pull pretty much anyone we want if the AD is serious about the need for a change and committed to making it stick.

JT's four I-AA championships may be part of our problem. With the playoff system, you can afford an early loss or two. The strategy in I-AA is to improve every week as the season goes along and peak in late-November when the playoffs begin. JT's record speaks for itself. He's a master at I-AA championship football strategy.
Unfortunately, in I-A you've got to be strong coming out of the gate and sustain that strength throughout the season. As we know, you can't afford the early season losses and still contend for the crown.
On the up-side, JT's approach bodes well for our record against scUM as well as our bowl record.

Nice post, I agree with it for the most part. Obviously JT has figured out how to win from wire to wire, but I think this season has demonstrated how hard of a feat it really is. I think he is a coach that has his teams playing their best ball in November......and onward. Maybe he should start scheduling weak teams in Sept.

Yeah, how many times is an undefeated Auburn going to miss the brass ring because they played St. Vitus, Pokeman State and Rural Louisianna State Tech ooc? That was a fluke, and if it had not been for Oklahoma and USC providing undefeated alternatives to the pollsters, they'd have gotten the shot at the NC they probably deserved.
Fortunately/unfortunately JT has lined up some very tough ooc games for the next eight years. In which case he better be ready to play bowl-level football by the third week of every season.
Back to previous comments, I don't dis Tressel's success at YSU, but I certainly do not consider a Div1AA championship and a Div1A championship in the same breath.

JT as an older coach believes in ball control. The old saying about three things happen when you pass, 2 bad and 1 good so don't pretend that just because. We dusted scum last yr and ok st in a bowl that things have changed.
He's not comfortable calling plays and designing plays for the spread.

Buckeye Offensive Coordinator Discussion (merged)
The news of Martz's illness has been out for awhile but today on my lunch break i heard NFL Live talking about how Martz will probably wind up being an OC next year. Cant help but wonder...what are your thoughts? Would Martz ever come down to the college level? Would tOSU pursue him if he were an option or would JT prefer to call his own plays next year as well?
