The sets that we ran plays out of in the first few series were some that I had not seen all year. Please tell me where I'm wrong.

IIRC, Saine ran out of tight end (Or just off the tight end) a few times this season..

Eh, but I can also see the reasoning...fast defenses are attacked straight ahead. As long as they were sitting in a man under 2 shell or press 2...the flats were not there. Connect on a few of those deep throws or smash routes and you soften that up...then what you are describing becomes available. I can see what you are saying...I think it is a crucial part of a power running game, but I also don't think it was there the other night without success in other areas.
Success in one area means an adjustment is made defensively...that equals something else being open. A defense always gives something up or is thin in one area...however, if the offense doesn't execute to exploit that...well, it makes for a long night.

i was dissapointed we didn't try a wr screen to beanie. 1 on 1 with either a cb or lb... *shrug* im fairly shocked we haven't thrown the ball hardly at all to beanie. i was also expecting a te screen at some point.

i get that. LSU adjusted by blitzing when Beanie went out wide. that didn't fare too well for the S&G.

Saine lined up at TE (or H-back) against Washington and Penn State to name two right off the top of my head. as for when Beanie split out wide, they've been sending the RB out wide since at least 2002. my memory gets kind of fuzzy WRT '01.
my point is that other than CK's draws against the Canes in the Fiesta, they don't ever DO anything with that other than drop back and pass. LSU didn't even care when Beanie went out wide. they knew there wasn't anything fancy coming, so they just blitzed. and it worked.
i actually like the offense. i don't want to seem like i'm bashing because i'm not. i just think our quick passing game could be so much better. there are no slip screens, no bubble screens. nearly no quick tosses at all. it's either a slant, a quick out or nothing. and we almost never see the quick out. and considering how well our WRs block in the running game, i'm sure they'd excel in the passing game as well...
i've been calling for it for two years. we'll be in the power-I, the defense will have 9 guys in the box, the FS is creeping up, and the lone CB is 5 yards off and looking in. why can't the QB recognize that, take the snap, and throw it IMMEDIATELY to the WR? one step drop. USC used to march up and down the field with Mike Williams by doing just that.
i dunno. maybe i should send coach Tressel an email. he ran that Statue of Liberty play that the 83 year old lady from Akron recommended, maybe he'd listen to me... (yeah right, like i'll ever send him an email.)

If, per say Norm Chow was brought in to be Offensive Co-Ordinator, what would happen to Jim Bolleman. Would he stay as the O-line coach or has
Jon Peterson already established that position. Just asking.
