Buckeye Offensive Coordinator Discussion (merged)
Interesting thread from the O zone and the insiders.
"Ron Erhardt(NFL O.C.) was at the WH today---Reports from one of the assistants in the football recruiting office, was that he was interviewing about becoming, or possibly assisting Jim Bollman as Offensive Coordinator and assisting or taking over the playcalling from Jim Tressel. Has a long background with the Tressels. Coached with Lee Tressel at Baldwin Wallace. Interesting development"
and
"Ehrhardt, 72 years old, has been around for a long, long time. He was a head coach at North Dakota State (won at least one national championship) in the late 1960s and early 1970s, then went to the New England Patiots for quite a few years and was head coach there, 1979-81.
He was Bill Parcells' OC for a couple of Super Bowl winners (1986 and 1990) with the Giants. And of course, he was with the Steelers as the OC (about 1992-95) and developed ways for Kordell Stewart to touch the ball in his pre-QB years there.
Ehrhardt has coached in every offensive system known to man.
Hard to imagine Ehrhardt was in the WHAC for more than social call or two act as a consultant or trouble-shooter."
Don't see him as a new OC, but any advise to play calling and technique would be awsome.

I don't know about how that would effect the coaching structure but who will end up coaching the Offensive line??? Thats the main problem (only IMO) with this Offense or at least the foundation that is missing. I sure hope they get John Peterson will switch his whole attention to the Offensive line. Now that would be something to get excited about.

Buckeye Offensive Coordinator Discussion (merged)
http://ohiostate.scout.com/2/320240.html
When asked if he had thought about talking to Snyder about scrapping the soft zone during the last drive by Purdue.
"No," Tressel said. "I don't like to jump in with three minutes to go and all of a sudden be part of it. I wasn't sitting in their meeting rooms. You only have time to do a certain amount of things and I probably try to do too many already."
Is this telling? Or am I bored? Is Coach hinting that he might be giving up some of his duties next season?
I think I'm just bored!

i think jt realizes that bollman's ol approach isnt working. i'm sure that will be rectified. i dont see jt relinquishing his playcalling duties.
i would think that many oc's would be reluctant to come to osu where they would be responsible for developing a system and gameplan, only to not be able to call the plays come gameday.

JT will let go of the offensive reigns when he resigns or is fired. Not one moment sooner. I have realized that complaining about this offense is moot. What you see is what you get as long as he is our HC. End of story.
